idea for pkers.....

"JHAELIEN"[.... but hurling abuse just makes people pk more, been a golden unwritten rule since back in the day.

Agreed.

I tend to just mind my own business. I am in a "neutral" guild. I expect PK attempts from time to time. If I go into Conti I expect Devils might turn up. I help other players (in guild or not). I don't go on PK hunts with other PKers.

As someone said in another thread "Soma is full of choices".

What do you do when you are simply grieffed to stop you attacking a boss so the PKers "mates" can kill it? Just accept that I will never be able to go for a boss after a Sacred Stone event? Should I also stop going to the Sacred Stone event? Should I not actually bother playing the game?

Previously, another well known player was hogging all the bosses and using characters he was being paid to level to camp them. I was grieffed over and over then too (and I did complain about that).

Should I accept that I am "not allowed" to go after a boss at all?

Where is the line?

And, what should I do instead?

Everyone?

"PIKUTIN" i went for you as you pmed me abuse at gvw for attacking you once

Wrong, I attacked “Luther” in response to being killed by him multiple times in the past when I was levelling. I learned that you were Luther (borrowed/bought/shared/alt/whatever). You killed me on Pikutin and then that (which was ages ago) was an end of it.

Also, I don’t PM abuse, I shout it.

You weren’t alone.

In any event, I suggested you were grieffing.

I never had any doubt, I’ll bring 40 resi’s.

jac makes very good points. He's one of the hardcore solo players and works hard on here. he makes very legitimate points for a solo player and points that should be noted.
Could and should be a lot more jacs on here..but like he says.. he aint allowed to play. Well he does play...but no wonder others have given up.

all this bitching is pathetic. We as pkers are happy to have a punishment we are happy to be disliked for it.. the least we expect is the chance of getting loot and for some reason some of you think we should get all the ha id caps and no rewards. Fucking daft.

"JACKELPUP"
"JAHEIRA"I also dis like how a player can just keep dieing till the pker is devil,

What if the player is trying to kill a boss and is anxious to get the kill shot? Add to that, what if the player helped contribute the spawning of that boss in anticipation of being able to fight it with the others?

Is it unreasonable to resi then?

Is it reasonable for certain people to deny others the opportunity by utilising their bought/borrowed/shared characters and then suffering no consequence?

Why should PKers be rewarded for that behaviour?

Basic PvP (in the manner in which it is intended) is obviously part of the game and I have no issue with it. Abusing it, however, is another matter. Especially when those same people abusing then complain they are getting a rough deal.

Jac

No it's not right to pk a player off a boss, and my comment wasnt towards your situation.

It's about finding the right reward/punishment for each situation.

It's not about what we expect pkers to have. I'm not against making a pkers life a little easyer and giving them access to town and npcs / rested

When was the last time you had any loot from a player ?

If you did drop a +5 item how would you feel ? How many would stop playing over this item loss ? I would for sure

Can't keep losing players from the bulling that does go on ingame.

Taking jacs situation into a count here, what can he do against pikutin ? Even if he does fight bk and manage to win how long till the rest of pikutin friends are involved ?

Another example of ppl giving up is the guild faint, that was one of the most active guilds on hsoma, it has 10 members now

Not long ago, I got a crit ear ring drop from richie777, which I gave back. Faint still play all in diff guilds. They split up because certain members tarnished the name and made the decent players look stupid if you must know...

I personally think too much time has been spent on the subject of pk and as a result of the fear-mongers suggesting EVERYONE will leave panic systems have been put in place pk removal no stat loss on death ect, I'd personally recommend limiting resi's and the people who feel like they are being bullied ect should accept pking is part of the game, bosses are competitive and pkers will always try to get the upper hand.

Stop penalizing the strongest group of players simply because they are the strongest, if it was a handful of pkers against a full force guild no-one would bat an eye lid, again i'd like to stress how important it is we don't bash the biggest group of people just because they are bigger and stronger, they have made friendships over years and put up with a struggle as big as or even bigger than you guys.

"MITCHY" the least we expect is the chance of getting loot .

I don't actually disagree with that.

You could hunt Devils in Conti when they have it - death forces a warp and possible drop.

Also, I wouldn't be against a return to the possibility of a drop against a human player .... BUT, there has to be equilibrium. On Esoma you could choose to warp and lose stats instead. It would be inequitable to force a drop without an alternative.

I am not against the Gypsy village either.

Some PKers play because they like to play that way and enjoy that style of game (and Soma facilitates it). Others abuse it. The GMs have repeatedly acted to combat abuse where they see it (and they should continue to draw their own views and act accordingly).

I am afraid that some people "spoil" it for everyone else.

I am sorry that Faint have suffered and, for what it is worth, I am sorry our friendship is damaged.

"BRITKING95"I the fear-mongers suggesting EVERYONE will leave panic systems

I don't think anyone has actually said that, have they?

"BRITKING95"
Stop penalizing the strongest group of players simply because they are the strongest.

There are some very decent people amongst the group that we recognise as being the strongest. Some I would call friends some I would like to call friends and some I certainly respect. There are, sadly, some puerile elements who tarnish the others.

If a group has become strong and dominant then "fair do's". Unless, they have done so by abusing the game (I can list infractions but it is pointless here). The challenge would then be for the rest of us to overcome their strength - that would be tactical warfare and within the spirit of the gameplay. I also think it would be conducive to attracting players and camaraderie. However, the systematic and continued abuse by a minority of players causes;

* Problems in game
* Ridiculous threads on the forum (like this one)
* Threats and grieffing (case in point, this thread)
* Loss of friendship with players
* Dissolution of guilds through apathy (Faint being the most recent)
* Loss of players (rescued by GM improvements)
* Sanctions by GMs
* Requests & suggestions are ignored by GMs who are dis-allusioned

Ergo, a vicious circle forms and, frankly, I don't know how iSylver & Co have the "will" to carry on with all the guff on here (mine included).

Esoma;
1) it was much harder to cap and there was no "elitist group".
2) High level drops were significantly harder to acquire and far less abundant
3) Far fewer bosses, less opportunities
4) PKers would lose stats for dying grey (something that the PKers here have failed to mention here)
5) Virtually no shared accounts
6) Virtually no "bought" or "borrowed" or "gifted" characters
7) Almost impossible to level an alt
8) No one paid to have their character levelled to 100
9) No one had access to sufficient numbers of level 100 characters to camp bosses
10) No one had access to high level PKers and other characters. If they chose to PK then they were stuck with the consequence. That is now circumvented by using a bought/borrowed/shared/etc character which circumvents the PK consequences
11) Because the consequence of PKing here is significantly less than esoma (accepting there has just been some changes, although they are defeated by "10" above) "grieffing" or targeting players has little or no consequence.

... I can go on but you get the point.

Jac
