Greenlight isamazing, but what are the plans?

Hey hey,

So being greenlit on steam offers great potential, what soma needs infact! so kudos for taking time on sorting that.

My question to the team, What are your plans for the server in terms of attracting a brand new user?
The server has been out for a long time, people have quit and new users are starting. But in the current state it's going to be hard (not impossible) to attract new players that don't get bogged down with feeling years behind, and ultimately giving up when the grind feels pointless.

Are you thinking of a new server? running both old and new side by side?

Are you thinking of seasons? Take Diablo as an example, obviously you would get to keep your old character for the "Main server" and get to start a fresh maybe every 6 months ~ 1 year when the new season kicks in? (this could have faster rates like double rested rates for the entire season)

Could you add ranks page? Could be something that people grind towards... Top 10 kills / Top 10 crafter / Top 10 RvR kills to encourage open world conti pvp more often?

Currently it's all about hitting level cap and getting upgrades and ultimately waiting for a patch for level cap.

Again not suggesting any of the above is viable, but with the current state of the server, which is not a bad one - but will be hard for any new player to get involved with (IMO)
Also the last thing i am suggesting is that a wipe is needed for new players, as i understand many many years of players hard earned hours and grinding have gone into make the server into what it is today.

Or do we simply keep it as it is, and new players will have to like it or lump it?
What would you guys as a community suggest?

imo.. the server speed is pretty quick as it is.. Players that started at the end of last year ..like matty have capped and have top of the range gear and can compete at the highest level.
Its an mmorpg here..... imo..its been speeded up more than enough.
Just need new players to get into a guild.. get some help and advice and every1 can be ''competing' in 6 months with some mediocre playtime.
Top item gears are hard to make and some may consider the current items op..
With updates and further levels and hopefully new tier gears..with less scope for mega upgrades , maybe things will even out a bit.
A new player can get involved very quickly now,,either in a guild for hunts.. guildies can craft and do upgrades.. theres item combine , and with rested.. to make the game any easier would'nt be a good move forward imo ..

3-4-5 months and any1 that can put a few hours a day in can expect to be joining in all events with some degree of competency...
imo

( good to see uv given up the server rewind plea...credit to the new strategy ;p) Running another server in conjunction with this one.. might be a good idea.. but it all has to be paid for.. as all is running ok here.. let things develop further on this
Plenty here for new players .. nothing too difficult or time consuming. All they need to do is talk, chat with other players. Plenty of helpful ppl here to see new guys get on their way

Server has been going awhile and I imagine the GMs want to see more activity before ploughing more time into it. A subscription model would work if there was perks tied into it, that didn't make you awesome but was a helping hand.

I personally think, there needs to be more imagination in the donation store, not lucrative things but fun things. Transforms/skins to name one.

We need to put emphasis on things other than levelling and heated PVP.

E.g. A zoned area with walls that can be used to help guilds run their own mini events. (In Esoma, we did a soma Olympics, e.g. You had to feather into a ring of barr to win a prize. Simple things like that, to encourage longevity. Rather than using barr though, having walls. Even if that was a separate map, like the farm, where barr didn't expire, that would be cool. Just things that.

Not everyone in the game is in a rush to get to level 100 and wants to enjoy the game in other ways ^^

events/wars for different tier levels would be great. there are nightly events but you can't really get involved until you've put ALOT of hours into the game.

Nah I disagree, yeah sure enough you can't kill people at a lower level at say war of the worlds, but you can still help by using slow/blind/weaken/giggle etc
