Possible dual-monitor issue

Author Content Date
Not sure if it's dual monitor issue or just my graphics card having issues running soma as well as 2nd monitor. Windows Pro 7 SP1 fully up-to-date being run. Tried running native colour in 16bit which seemed to help but problem came back. Soma client laggs a lot but actions on 2nd monitor running smoothly. using a gtx 750ti which is a bit out-dated but I'd have thought it could handle it, as it can handle witcher 3 + 2nd monitor fine.

Soma has an issue with multiple monitors that currently requires a custom patch in client code for each version of gdi32.dll (gdi32full.dll on later Windows 10 versions). There is probably no code patch in the client for the version of Windows 7 SP1 that you have installed.

Also currently because of multiple monitors when Soma runs in Window mode it doesn't use any GPU hardware acceleration there is a way to force hardware acceleration but it causes other issues that I have not yet resolved.

Any reply to this?
My dual monitors have been fine, i am getting really bad fps issues on both window and full screen over the past week.
When i disable my 2nd monitor it seems to be fine, but it was never an issue before, and i need my 2nd monitor for films / twitch whilst im grinding

Any help on how this can be fixed would be appreciated

This happens with certain Windows 10 updates, there was another one recently - you can check by going to Windows Updates in control panel and viewing update history.

Finito has to patch it every time, you could roll back to the previous update which would fix the problem.

Yeah I will get around to adding a patch for it (have not rebooted my pc to install the update yet).

I have had another go recently to try fix the issue without the need for custom patches but have been unsuccessful although it did lead to a GDI resource leak fix which seems like it might have fixed a lot of disconnection issues for players.

There is still something I need to try and that is forcing setups with multiple monitors to use hardware acceleration, currently game uses software emulation for everything with multiple monitors (it is just how DirectDraw works) but there is an issue with DirectDraw surface creation when it is enabled it doesn't want to create any surfaces using system memory only GPU memory which obviously results in massive GPU memory usage by doing that. I will at least try it and change surface creation to use GPU memory to see if it does fix the issue even if it is unlikely to.
