If you have enough time and energy - yes.But bare in mind you will need 200 skill for the dmg bonus. Basically, for gaining stats efficiently sword and knuckle suck. If you are pure knux, pure bow, pure sword or any combination of those 3 weapons you will end up with worse stats than someone who is axe/bow. It's as simple as that, it can't be otherwise. Once you have capped out you can reskill any weapon you want, assuming you can still get skill at the % cap (I don't see why not as you can get skill on anything). It just comes down to the fact that despite mobs giving DEX gains till 130/40+ (forget the exact figure, but its meaningless) the slows at 90 and 95 DEX means even a pure bow character won't crack 110 (where the worst is over and it starts speeding up) before level 80+, and then they won't be able to get the STR cap or INT cap. Therefore, given that pretty much every character will be between 95-105 DEX at level 100 you need a weapon that will get you quickly to the STR cap. That is why everyone is axe. Personally, I'm using a spear because I think it has brilliant pvp utility, aswell as powerful leveling speed (with a healer) - but using a knuckle/sword will just waste the limited % to 100 with slooow STR gains and no meaningful DEX advantage over axe. My only concern about sword is that (like axe) the best weapon is a 1her not a 2her, so you won't be doing the sick 5th burst damage that we saw on esoma and the test server with dragonwings.

What you're saying is "everyone is switching to axe because it has the best gains, so we may as well buff axe" That doesn't make sense...

Dsoma have it changed back as they only have the choice to use one weapon once a class is picked.
What you're saying is "everyone is switching to axe because it has the best gains, so we may as well buff axe"

devil axer has to use it for pvp with no dex also, that bit of spd difference aint going to make a hugh difference pve[/quote]

The main problem with hsoma axe is that is basically doesn't need upgrading.
You get 1 good tagged Blue Wave Axe and you activate 4th and thats it, your weapon is as good as it can be. Both your leveling and pvp ability is amazing. If you get a pammy to drop a decent a spear, a knuckle, or a bow you wouldn't even use it without upgrades. It isn't THAT much better than a LB wep and needs to be much faster to be effective in pvp. Then factor in that to get a rare/epic B speed stinger you are probably going to end up breaking 2-3 bows (at least). So you need to farma boss with a 4 day respawn and a big dropfile, get the last hit, get a drop of the wep you want, have it at a decent tag, then achieve upgrade success several times. After all that you now have a pammy weapon ready to go, whereas axe had it the 2nd they clicked 4th on.

Exactly, I've mentioned this before but because it's just how it's always been no one questions it.
Imo knuckle should have a aura to permanently increase it's attack power to nearly rival axe dmg. Ridiculous? So is 4th axe! |
