Change the way to kill bosses

Author Content Date
Yea yea yea, another rant about bosses, drops and loot. But, most of you agree with me, and some will not, but here I go.

Please CHANGE the way bosses get damage..

Why?

I've been to the Christmas boss 17 times now (yes, I've counted), always logging 2 characters. I killed it zero times.

90% of the times I go, China is there, and about 75% of all times, China gets the kills.

Listen, most of us have regular jobs and can't stay online 24/7. Unlike them, who make this game their fulltime jobs...

They outgear us, outfarm us, and the gap will only grow larger.

What can the casual players do to get these last hits on bosses? Either get super lucky, or hope that "they" aren't online. In reality however, that won't ever happen.

Suggestion? Give the bosses like 1500-3000hp and every hit is between 1-5 damage. This way, ALL players can have an actual chance of getting these last hits.

Disagree? Go check the boss section at Player Feed. CTRL+F china and hit enter till the end of time.

Admins, please change the system. Because some people have actually given up going to bosses, PLEASE make this game more fair for casual players.

Thanks.

+1 has previously been suggested by me a while ago but there wasn't a change the current system caters to the rich so the rich get richer.

I don't bother with bosses, pointless.

Need to cap max recoil on bosses too. Even if it's something like 1000... So no advantage for anyone.

I haven't killed a boss in a very long time

It’s worth keeping in mind the point of the OP’s motivation.

The complaint isn’t specifically the bosses; it’s that the Chinese player (I think I am right in saying there is only one person running the five characters) has successfully managed to become (pretty much) invincible by abusing the game.

We all “know” what is happening and having (seemingly) learnt from past bans, he can now sell his gains without punishment. Of course “we” can’t prove it. However, it takes only a minuscule of intelligence to work out why a person plays the game every single day and every waking minute whilst in China … Either he is very rich and bored with life or he is making a living doing it. By farming everything he maximises his stocks AND increases demand (because he is reducing what is available to the rest of us).

Time 6 bosses were introduced to allow lower players a chance to “have a go” but two were camped for their drops (Darian queen is no longer camped because a troll ring trumps a hero ring).

The Grand Devil Guard was introduced for us all but, same problem – it is now systematically killed by the same one person.

Soul dropping bosses (all of them) are claimed by the same one person no matter what level – because they are used to buy nice gear from the vendor in TYT.

Negamare suffered the same abuse by the same player but he seemingly now chooses when he goes.

Now the Christmas boss has suffered the same fate – it is killed habitually by the same one person.

Every time the GMs do something for “our” benefit, it is monopolised by the same one person.

Like the OP, I have been at the Christmas Boss dozens of times only to see the same person get the kill (I stopped going now). I have tried to go for the Grand Devil Guard and also the Berserk Demented Warthog – same thing; always the same person killing it.

Of course, he goes to sleep around 8pm to 3am GMT.

So, maybe the problem isn’t specifically the way it’s being killed (ie. a niche character built and designed for expressly that purpose) If any “ordinary” player had created such a character they would be “chuffed as fook” and we would probably say “fair do’s”. There again, it wouldn’t be running amok 18 hours a day EVERY day.) It’s the fact that the bosses are being farmed by one single person for (allegedly) illicit gains AND it prevents the rest of us from having a reasonable crack at the kill.

I just think we need to be clear as to “why” we are making these suggestions ….

(ie. this is all because of one player (allegedly) abusing the game)

We also have to be careful when suggesting modifications to the way Bosses are killed.

Specifically, some people (many?) will have considered how to kill bosses when levelling and defining their characters. Of course, bosses themselves have different attributes but is (probably) fair to say that one character build cannot be a master of all.

In considering changes, it would be unfair to players to make a change that negates their hard work in any case where “Bosses” were a target goal (in part or in whole).

It isn’t specifically the character build or the boss itself that the OP has raised an issue with; it’s the fact that one person has monopolised that element of the gameplay. It may well be reckless to change the game for “everyone” just to marginalise one player.

I really like your post Prowler, spot on.

There could be different ways of killing the boss.

For example:

All melee weapons do 1-5 dmg per hit, and skilled hits do double that.
All mage hits do 1-3 dmg, double with weaken.

Why?

Mages have better hit rate :O

Or, you could be even more specific and give each weapon different dmg specs.

Nux 2-3
Bow 3-4
Axe 2-4

etc.

There are plenty of ways to make killing bosses fair for everyone. Right now, the Santa boss is meant to be a boss for Christmas... Yet, only lvl 120 ppl can have a small chance of last hitting it. This makes sure that everyone can give it a go.

+1 to this, like many other mage’s I stand little to no chance at most bosses and therefore pretend they don’t exist in general.
