Double XP - A regular event that has to be earned

Author Content Date
So, we all know the game becomes alive with activity during double xp events, so why not make it a regular thing that has to be achieved?

I'm going to propose an idea that will hopefully be pretty easy to implement as it's just changing slightly the systems that already exists within the game.

WotW - 10% boost is nice, but not really noticeable. Why don't you make it so the winners get 100% xp (i.e, double xp) boost for 24 HOURS ONLY, then 10% boost the rest of the week?

PROs of this idea
- Incentivise WotW attendance. WotW is really fun when there's a good turnout from both sides, so why not make it so that it's really worth attending every time?
- People can plan around double xp days. Studies have shown that humans like to plan and look forward to things
- Double XP is always on different days of the week as it shifts with WotW dates, so it's "fair" for everyone. Double XP weekends is unfair because many people work or have other commitments during those times
- Increased user-count. Some people literally only come on during double xp events; getting these people to come on more regularly will get them to play more often
- There have been a lot of changes recently that promote WotW balance. Let's run a crash test of these balance changes!

+1 perhaps do it the day after Wotw, people will hopefully log on for the day of the war (get some hunting in or whatever before war starts) then be online the next day to make the most of the 2x exp

Pretty nice idea.

I am one of the players you're referring to. I had made my characters many years ago and stopped playing for years. The Double Rates event in Christmas brought me back to the game, and I've enjoyed it enough to continue playing.
I got to speak to so many players in the Christmas event, so many people helped me (I'm technically somewhat of a Soma noob despite playing it back on ESoma and years ago on this server and others), I got to hunt with others etc, a much different experience than I had last had with Soma some years ago. It felt like ESoma again. That all pretty much went quiet when the event ended and another few weeks past.

Games with casual audiences have frequent events, I'll be playing the Valentines week on Fortnite and Apex Legends for example (don't laugh). I'd rather be on Soma though if I'm brutally honest.

I think along with your idea, you can still have these events on a more frequent basis by default, without prerequisites and certainly around recognized holidays/days of celebration. It was a seasonal event that alerted me and brought me back to Soma, in order to bring others back and to encourage them to play - like I was - more of those style events would be great.
You could offer added incentives for store discounts during limited periods also, just announce it ahead of time and it could go well.

It could also be done that, for example, after killing 500 bosses, there is one day of double exp/drops. Kind of like Xmas bosses. Not sure how many bosses spawn each day, but if its close to 50, it will take 10 days to get 1 day of double rates. People would be more willing to go to bosses, even the random ones. And all bosses should drop tokens for ALL people that hit. You can save up tokens for end game loot.
