Hi, I have the use of a borrowed pc.. mine was having issues so unable to play soma.. my question is: I downloaded the game and when it comes to installing it, I get a message asking " Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer? "

What does this mean by make changes to this computer ?

More than likely this is because the persons computer has user account control turned on so a prompt comes up when significant changes i.e installing software appears to confirm if the user wants to proceed in doing so.

As long as you used the link on the homepage you'll be safe!

The changes is making is writing the files onto your PC. This popup is normal for all installations on Win10 (and perhaps other versions of windows)

still january and still not able to play soma. Is there another dl besides the one that says "somadev" ? Or is that the right one ?
There's also a file that pops up once myth of soma is done before I can install called " redist.x86.exe " that seems to interfere with my installation... and I'm sure I saw that file already in soma list of files..

microsoft visual C+ + 2015, redistributatable (x86) - 14.0.23918 is probably one of the core components required to run soma, i doubt finito would assist in this matter as its more of an issue with the users personal PC.

You just want to make sure you install everything that pops up whilst running the install and pressing yes/allow to all prompts.

Both myself and somawizard work in IT as day job's so would be more than happy to help if you require remote assistance.

Used to get this running win XP. D/l redist x86 from Microsoft free if I remember right. Also if using XP make sure that you have service pack 3 installed and anything else (can be googled) if SP3 needs it to install, it well tell you if so. Doesn't take too long and should be fine then. Sounds like SP3 isn't installed amongst other things.
If not using XP lol then google redist x86 for your OS and go from there.
