Elder Mags for Melle & Drops

Hi All,

After killing now over 12,000 Mags recently I would like to suggest a few tweaks if at all possible..

1.The drop file looks great however I would like to see the Nega weapons and tagged weapons drop a little more if this could be changed?

The reason behind this is as previously stated I have recently killed over 12,000 and came out with 2 Tagged Nega weapons and 3 Epic weapons, not bad I hear you say. But if I compare that to how many Proc tabs and Clean Tablets I received I could kit out 2 mages twice over. (with a little luck) Below is just a sample of my time at elder Mags..

30+ CT
20+ TOC's
20+ TOF's
20+ TOV's
20+ TOW's
3 Rare Necro Stings
4 DT's
9 RDT's

Now at the height of the user count these are a welcome commodity and can go someway to help melle chars buy and trade however, we are all felling the hangover from x2 event and decent weapons to trade seem to be in short supply.

2. Could we introduce a more Melle friendly Elder Mag somewhere else? or even bring back the Ice lord guardians from Esoma days (those pesky blue ILG) as an end game melle mob? With a more melle friendly drop rate?

Fortunately I was lucky enough to have a tank for most of my mag hunting however during the time I didn't and even with full NM gear +3 set and slow rings, us poor melle don't last longer than 15 - 20 min and grinding out that 9999 kills takes 3-4 times longer than the more Int inclined builds.

3. SHOW ME THE MED RUBY'S!!! I think its time that BLG share the wealth and relinquish control over Medium ruby's and let them be obtained from Elder Mags/Mags.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated, I welcome all comments as long as they are adding value and help influence a positive change.

We don't yet have melee friendly "ordinary" Magmas ....

This has been gone over at length to no avail.

Prowler - you've chosen to build your character the way you have. Even with multiple cap raises. Dont moan you cant hunt mags if you didnt want to get the stats to in 125 levels.

elders shouldn't cast their magic at range 1 tbh, mages can get away with their cast not going interrupting by standing range 2, why not offer something similar for melee? i know that at range 1 they don't cast their magic as often, but still it should just be melee from that point anyways

i also think that blg should not be dropping med ruby, if anything hellish trolls should be dropping medium or they should both drop smalls.

i personally haven't really had trouble with elders due to having 3rd spear/decent MD gear but i know not everyone has this and it's slightly frustrating knowing that a mage will always have the upper hand at farming the endgame mob.

Everyone is so focused on maximum damage output and they always seem to be the first to complain about the damage they receive from others and specific mobs.

+1 iSylver, everyone has been given an extra 5 levels to alter their chars to improve survivability but these extra levels were put towards improving DPS by most, these same people seem to be those complaing most about being one banged.

As much as I approve of new mage robes being introduced, I'm quite disappointed these seem to benefit these people most with such low int req.

As far as I'm concerned it's impossible for my int capped mage to 1 hit a melee char with 120 int with a decent +OE set. My mage being at 200+ has 1/3 hp remaining from a 5th and hit sword char.

People want to cater their char around maximum damage output should expect to be killed easy.

Back on subject though, I agree rubies need to be added to mags. Their drop files seem to be more catered towards mages, DT and RDT are pretty redundant now with DDT and CDT being introduced.

On top of this I'd like to suggest alternate recipes for the new upgrade items. People are going to struggle with getting nega tears after completing quests when nega is killed 90% of the time by rediculously geared played and therefore struggle to craft things like DDT and CDT. Something like 10 DT or RDT to make CDT or DDT.

this ' mele friendly' elder is something asked for a few times..
i think gm's are trying to get mele only guys to invest some % into getting int so as to balance the characters a bit and there isn't such a stark difference between mele / mage..
they gave us xtra levels and most warriors kept pumping more dex/ str and ignored the int.
id like to see 5 xtra levels.. and it made clear that u get int or stop whining..
+1 to med rubies dropping at all mags

perhaps changing the gems that drop from boars and trolls to med too would be a better option same for valks/wasps. as soon as u hit 230 int u stop hunting those mobs. there isnt really a reason to

Hi all let’s try keep the posts on topic that would be great.

Reading them all there is some good suggestions and we all seem to be in agreement of adding Med Ruby’s to the drop file or increasing them on other Mobs.

Also what a great idea about being able to craft Nega tears with a combination of DT’s etc..

I also think Gentrys suggestion about elder Mags not being able to cast at range 1 would be a very quick fix and help us melle guys survive a little longer even the ones that have invested in extra int they still hurt.

Thanks for all your views so far and hopefully things could be tweaked along with the drops balanced a little more.

ye .combo 5 ( ish) dts/ rdt for the double at pot table would be great too. and ye.. a slight increase in nega weps too would be more than welcome .. negas drop m-tags, so no reason why normals couldn't be upped a bit in normal play
as regards elders not casting at range 1.. think isylver said it wasn't possible after looking into it.. could me remembering wrong tho
