I've just caught up on some of last night's discord drama, mostly irrelevant but I did see Dan mention something about removing the donation store.

I had an idea, I don't know if it'll be possible due to time constraints but I would assume it will be to some degree at least, as money talks.

As it was stated that donation's currently just sit in the account, would it not be better to take (maybe current, maybe just future) donation's and then use them to pay yourself/Finitio/Someone trusted and competent a good rate, in order to work on whatever development is most in demand at the time.

Obviously work from someone other than Dan/Fin would need to be thoroughly checked over, but it'd eliminate a lot of the work involved, and tbh with regard to paying people other than yourselves - most would probably do it for free if the you guy's would accept the help.

To figure out what is in demand at the time, you could have a vote sort of thing, make it so you have to post on your main to vote (on a forum thread) - to avoid it being abused by people's 10x alt army etc.

Maybe with this method where people are straight up donating, not donating to a donation store, chargebacks could be totally avoided? I'm not sure tbh, but if not I'm sure there would be some sort of other solution to avoid this potential issue.

Just an idea, hopefully this one gets acknowledged - sadly I've wrote out about 25 idea's in my time here and I think I've only ever had one even acknowledged, admittedly it was also implemented but it sorta kills off most motivation to think things through and take the time to write out etc - just saying.

Everyone seems to have ideas to "improve" the game.. some are bias, some are bad and others are worthy a consideration. its probably time consuming for our GMs to filter through the ideas on forum because of all the trolling or just unsure which once are legit/good for the server or not.

We are supposed to have councils to help GM with what the players want / top ideas suggested to be implemented. Are they helping GMs these days filter out some of these ideas? A voting system would be great but perhaps only to those who donate to the server.

So the community can suggest x amount of ideas, the councils and gm filters out what makes sense and is do-able and those who donate get a chance to vote, 1 user/ip per vote and this could be a monthly process.

I think Isylver agreed with you last night. He said they where trying to get someone on a temp basis to help but haven’t had any luck so far.

There was a lot of shit spoken, so you might have to dig around to find it. But he was deffo discussing this and saying they had already started and been looking ect.

Found it myself

+1 Aqua.

Sounds positive!

Why not source it out to the people who know the game best, the players? Obviously select one's with the skills required/ability to learn at the very least, and have their work community tested (on test server).

You could even do competitions like with the advertisement one's, but with some form of development like best new map/boss.

3D sounds cool but that's probably an absolute tonne of work, all that effort would be better put into other aspects of development I think, I'm sure many would agree.

Already said 3x last night there should be a modding section for the forums like somadev.com had where the community can create skins/maps etc for the server but it got completely ignored. Do they really want help or do they want all the work to do even if it's minimal to claim its "theirs"?

Seems like a ego thing tbh.

Let the community help and the server will THRIVE. Just like any other modding community, say for example gta5.

No ego here.

All for people contributing skins etc - obviously they need reviewing. Fox did the horde mode map but needs some tweaks and fixed as there’s some bugs in it
.
Another player sent in a weapon that we haven’t tested yet. Tell you right now if someone can create an exact replica of the soma 3D man models with stances etc then I’d happily pay them.

As for other arms of development. We can’t really outsource the server side stuff due to security and IP. However, I’m happy to share how kill quests are written if people want to write some.

I had it on my list to create a quest generator which outputs a quest in the right format. E.g pick the mob, pick the map, pick the item reward, name the collectible, right the quest description, title etc.

Sounds good to me, a mod section for player created maps/skins would be a perfect start imo.

Is fox's pande town also buggy or are we able to implement that?

Thanks for the response!

Sounding very positive then, would be really cool to have some community developed skin's/map's/quest's and whatever else they/we can do!

Yea I personally think anything like that, which you could outsource to the community safely - it would make sense to do that for the bulk of things, therefore freeing up valuable development time in area's the community can't contribute other than idea's/discussion.

+1 to a mod section, would be an amazing addition IMO.
