Magic reflex

Soma has this concept. If it wasn't for 3D games, maybe this concept could play a significant role in the original official design. Now we can still introduce this concept. Now there are various kinds of equipment to increase the chance of triggering Magic. We can only offset those damages through MD. maybe magic reflex is a good solution. When triggered, the caster takes the same damage!

Don't need to turn it into archer v mage... as a spear user I have no chance to shut down archers/melee unless they decide to stop and fight which never really happens. Having something like magic reflect proc is probably not a bad idea

i dont understand what youre saying there,

you cant fight ranged warriors so you want magic reflect?

there are already mechanics in game to 100% shut down a mage, 95% of the time its just dex, the other 5% to fight 4th staff is a decent dispel set(or jus run for 10 seconds)

the only thing that does anything to warriors is 5th axe which dsoma side means a far smaller %

edit: how about proc cant fire against a stoned character?

I am saying its not just about archer v mage... if you joined any of the recent dsoma pvps you would see that most melee can't fight when mages are around .. either they have to chase that mage or die avoiding them.

Magic reflect can give a chance to focus on other melee targets knowing some mage hits will reflect :)

Also mages don't need stone to drop a target.

Even if I had 10000 DEX, I didn't do as much damage as magic. There is no conflict at all.

Comes back to the age old arguments on Archer and Mage being too over powered.

An archer with dex set can out dex another archer which feels broken, so what hope does Axe or spear (without 2nd) have of ever hitting it.

Archers should have evasion reduced in dsoma I don’t believe it was ever the intent that to hit them you have to rock high accuracy gear. Removing mage damage against archer is just a way of justifying archers should be OP+1 without consideration to all other classes.

Mages should have precast and gbird removed so you have to refocus each time - as archers do. That would remove the feather - hit hope for lucky proc etc. That would create more skill requirement to pvp. Mages are naturally squishy so shouldn’t need more than that - as an axer I can should down a mage with a fiend bow then as mentioned above run for 10secs when cast 4th.

It's the classes of mages or archers that's the problem. It's the gear. +8 bows are stupid and so is someone hitting 2-3 procs per spell.

One easy way to combat both of these things are to bring in new weapons/armour/spells that make the previous weapons and spells irrelevant. More HP as the level cap increases will help with proc as the spells that can proc are capped at relatively low damage. (other than DB which will never be irrelevant)

You dont do as much damage no, but nothing can stop you loosing arrows, whilst youre hitting a mage they dont have any attack at all

That makes more sense afro cheers for clearing up :)
Though i agree archers shoulsnt be able to hit anything like as hard as they can either, that damage at range 6? Is ridiculous
(Have always agreed mage proc too op )

Precast should 100% be a thing, any melee first hit is instant, the recoil kicks in after
Mages have a 1s build up to their first shot

Sorry didn’t mean precast by right clicking the spell icon, I meant that feather doesn’t interrupt casting - so ultimately you just feather, cast and hope for lucky proc - make it like melee have to refocus on reclick etc... feather should interrupt casting.

All you need to do it give mages range 6 stone and increase the % on weaken pants from 6 to 12% and reduce the casting time on rdragonbreath
