I joined the new team firstly out of curiosity and then got caught up in it all.

I liked what I saw and the way that they were going and felt that I had something to offer to help them achieve it.
What we are building I would call “Soma II” the logical next evolution of the original game; moving it forwards while trying hard to keep to the original “manga feel” to it.

For me personally – and I have been playing soma on and off since the early days after watching it on the Game Network TV channel – and having committed God knows how many hours time to it both in playing and in actively supporting it in my own ways – I was getting bored and felt that it needed a step-change to revive it.

I think that Dan and Fin have done some great work and should be commended for keeping the game running for so many years, but I also think that they do not have the free time to do much more than they already are and I have personally seen a marked reluctance to accept help, advice or suggestions from outside…..

Exodus currently has a wide range of skilled developers, (we even have a professional software QA man on the job too :P ), graphical artists, 3D animation gurus and tens of thousands of in-game player hours experience to draw on. So, an active team in double figures who are all committed to making it all work.

There is no need for us to “make peace” as we are not at war :P

What we will be offering is our take on Soma that we hope moves it all forwards with new and exciting content, regular updates and a whole raft of new stuff to make the game exciting again.

Does your GM or whoever created the new server respond to personal messages or anything like that? Or just seen mode as well all the time?

we will have several GMs and intend to have a reasonable in-game presence. I am sure - unless they get swamped will messages then - that they will respond to you while they are in-game,

If you have an issue or a question, then there will be "GM Call Boards" situated in towns where you can leave a message and someone will get back to you.

Good luck, be particularly interested to see how this works out and the governance (if one goes rogue for example).

Not throwing shade and take it or leave it but my humble advice would be to limit the number of people with GM powers, dB access etc in order to protect the work you’ve done.

Also what’s the stance on your GMs playing their own characters? Good or bad?

Looking forward to your server release - won’t be playing it personally but if you live up to the promises you’ve set I think the community will love it.

Hi Dan,

ty for the advice.

We think we have most of that covered. GMs will not play at all.

dB access is already and will continue be severely controlled.

I will be personally shocked if we don't make a few learning mistakes as we get going but we will just have to deal with them as they arise

Sounds like a plan, and appreciate the modesty. Everyone makes mistakes.

There’s quite a few security issues with the DB that took us a while to refine (and still find silly bugs today).

Honestly, best of luck. Sounds like you’ve got some great content/updates lined up.

"SB99"Surely if LND just traded someone who had done something with dodgy barr then he should be unbanned by now?

I don't understand these decisions honestly. Struggled with the COCODABEAST ban also. It's hard to stay positive about the game with these kind of things going on.

Would also like to add whoever reported Coco for that afk bric quest (changing brics to dionaea skin), you need to take a look at yourself. Everyone has done that quest afk, chances are if you log on at a random time you will see someone doing it.

Just wanted to get that off my chest as it's been annoying me for a while :)

I don’t want to stir the pot. But I did the bric quest of Flickthebum only a few weeks ago, I know that microstar and hayool both reported me.

Isylver came in game one evening and told me I’d been naughty and that was it, no ban no repercussions.

I’m not saying if coco has been banned then ban flickthebum, I’m just saying I wasn’t punished and another person was, so it’s very unfair.

a good 90% of people have done so. changing skin to dionaea and either right click down and alt + tab or a clicker and a bow.

With the amount of edited clients being used this should be the least of the Gms worries, teleport clients/auto serums/potting/no blind/confuse/specified names for auto click locking with bows, auto locking closest player, auto switches for gear when low hp or for when you get a 5th stone off/altering client ani's so you cast insanely quick with custom delays so it doesn't look as bait. The list goes on

Banning a legit player for a clicker is idiotic to say the least.

Changing a mob skin and removing trees is the limit of my capabilities. But as mentioned by Diablo, those changes aren’t game breaking compared to what else is out there at the moment. I’ve seen videos of players using an insane casting speed client. I’ve witnessed something in game first hand of click lock not being broken my G birds, Those are issues which need dealing with, not someone alt tabbed out. It’s no different to healing or doing con while at work or watching a film.

I always thought you could do whatever you wanted as long as it didn't require an external tool to perform complex inputs and that changing skins are allowed? It's so simple you don't even need a 3rd party macro/clicker.

Alt + tab and hold right click before you do it

With a more on topic note; i'm very excited to see what they come up with. Although i'm not holding my breath with the amount of man hours it'll take to get soma to a relevant state :( feelsbad

as trivial as this changing skins, standing all day afk in tyt hitting brics, while ur at work ..( remember there's only 1 main place/ spawn to stand doing this)..may seem to some..
if u was a guy who had a day off work, and wanted to do the bric quest.. it might not be such a trivial matter and be somewhat annoying
