Any ideas on how to setup some way of 'voting' changes in?

I used surveymonkey when I did my map vote stuff on here in the past. Web based and I think filters out duplicate votes, was free too and quite straightforward.

An IOS game I play uses discords new 'forum' channel type, whereby people post a 'feature request' but rule is it can only be for a single idea / suggestion, it displays them as single tiles and people can leave comments on them and vote  or . A MOD usually then adds tags to them like QoL, Enhancement, Bug etc and that helps move them up the list.

Perhaps convert the existing ideas & suggestions channel as currently once people start commenting alot its easy to loose track of the initial suggestion.

"OLM"As a returning player.

I'm not sure much can be done by the GMs to rectify the biggest issue in this game and that is community and guilds. From what I see there is two sides and a few solo players, I have been looking at thousands of screenies from esoma and the community was much more fluid. I have spoken to 7 people in Soma and that is it. Everyone else is PvP mad and doesn't have time for the "role play" aspect of it, I get it though it's human nature to become competitive.

The reason Esoma did so well and hold so many good memories for people is:

There was a mix of guilds and multiple rivalries were formed and many alliances.

Stats didn't matter, because of how long it took to get to lvl 100 and the soft cap being like 100 dex, you had the right mix of sword/knuckle/bow/spear etc because you knew you were ending up within 10 stats of the next person regardless of how you leveled, whereas now the difference in dex is so obvious it forces you to level a certain way, for example I have 97 dex 127 str... I have been told by the people I talk to that I might aswell remake char because I will be useless at lvl 135 unless i go axe/int from here. Why can't I carry on doing a lvl of bow followed by a level of spear until cap and still be able to compete? I'm putting in just as much work as anyone else.

Upgrades didn't matter as much because they never fully got to a point we had multiple pkers running around with machine gun bows and massive acc/eva.

The quest system needs a complete overhaul - there's no story line at all it's boring and seems like a cheap way of gaining bonus points with the players "Oh we added 5 brain numbing quests" we know you don't like it but you can't say we didn't do anything. Not having a go, i'm sure you did it with the best intentions but theres literally people volunteering to write you up a story line.

I think the biggest mistake here has been catering to the hardcore Pvpers more than the casual players and I don't mean immunity or anything like that, but keeping us engaged in the game and allowing us to keep playing and progressing and upkeeping our own community as the casuals did pre Lvl 100, after this point and the game becomes copy and paste where the hardcore players can run around griefing people, it becomes boring and tedious with abuse most of us don't want.

My character is 3% away from max level and I have 233.9 str, 190.7 dex and 128.8 int and I did Sword until 115 str and had about 90 dex and I did pure Knuckle until 161 str then Axed to 171 and back to knuckle till 120 or so and been getting 2.0 str and 1.8 dex most levels since and I don’t think I am too far behind in stats

I think if there is a server reset I'd like to see slow rates but way higher drop rates adding toe drops to low lvl.mobs aswell as diamond make the endgame lvling instead of farming for gear a endgame of farming for gear is toxic with anvil but a endgame of lvling is guaranteed reward for time spent pking with +8 50 skill weps be funny slower stats would also bring more build diversity as u would benefit getting faster stats str/int to get ahead early

You could always bot like u did on myname. Or sell all your gear like u did on aenus. Or lose all your gear like u did on paenus.

Just a hint 👍

Personally I’d be interested in a twin server, same rates, significantly increased drop rates, esoma weapons only.

Cap of 100, start with 30 Con.

See how it goes over 1 year, my gut tells me many would play and the significant drop increase would remove the biggest issue with soma - going back to square one multiple times.

The level 100 cap would also restore stat balance.

Oh and anything above +5 account bound.

"MATTY"The only way to “remove” the cheating is to remove the grind.

You can never really fully police bot/buying/selling/pilot.

But if people didnt need to do it they wouldnt hence removing it.

Ghost upgrades
Faster rates
More drops and new drop files
And bigger rewards in ToV/ssWotw etc so when you actually play you get rewarded.

I appreciate you honesty and i blive the original council had the best ideas so something along those lines with an equal number of different “types” of players is needed for an even vote of things.

The UC is tiny at this point I don't think anyone should be perma banned unless doing things like duping ect.

If Pk is always left on and no immunity the community can almost self police afk botters then just release a basic bot everyone can use to level the playing field. If video evidence is submitted with levelling afk then give them a flat 90day ban.

6.The moral system / death drop worked with slower rates and a genuine punishment but its important to say, as Kaz has already, it doesn't when the rates are too fast as after while people then have disposable characters. So consider that when planning for the server, ignore people asking for rate increases or one off fixes, just go by the population and community. If the rates are slower, you can keep immunity / 2 deaths disabled for a time.

If moral is slow and loosing moral makes the game meaningfully difficult for pkers then a lot of the anti social behaviour will disappear as people wont loose there moral for nothing then we wont need things like immunity ect

Devil moral players should then be able to pk at will as there game path is suitably more difficult for choosing to play in that anti social way

"RAVENSOUL"You might as well just turn the server off and save your time Finito if you wipe the server, or rewind. The server is 10 years old mistakes have been made but that’s not enough reason for either of the above. Live with where we are at and carry on, everything can be fixed it’s just going to take some time, energy and patience on all of us.

Here’s a wild thought, remove valour weapons/armours, sort the damage out on the weapons, increase the low df on these new armour, cap recoil on weapons, return all anvil ripped valour weapons/armours to original characters fix ss to max +5, increase toe to +8 and dsoma equivalent upgrade to +8 then it will be a slight restart of valour. Also place the ability to buy what tag you want and still have the current option of taking risk and gambling with whatever tag you get both options imho should be available.

The main issue that imo has gimped the game recently is valour weps and double tabs. The DPS from valour weps is just stupid and the attack is just 2 big a jump from the last tier of weps.

There easy enough to get that all the hardcore players have +8 val weps and +8 double tab accessories but hard enough that casuals have 0 chance.

The damage has been done and its not fair to roll back or remove peoples hard earned items. I have always been against further buffs to the anvil but I think that is the best way to level the playing field now.

Main problem that requires a great reset though is balance. The game is totally pointless now because basically any semblance of balance has been totally and utterly destroyed by the compound effects of multiple clueless decisions about the game.

Refresh would be hype af, draw a lot of people back esp if advertised that you were undoing a lot of the mistakes. Why did people play before and not now? Folks dropped off because of the terrible decisions were made that were supposedly meant to improve things and did nothing but kill off the player-base despite constant feedback and warnings against them. Where mistakes were made they were always doubled down on and never undone. Anybody who spoke up was banned.

I agree with what you are saying but a wipe will also make many quit. Yes you might get 10x users count of those that quit now but you have to remember the guys that are here are the bread and butter... and stuck it out through everything.

The answer imho is to do a bit of balancing out as best that we can on here and maybe consider a second server.

"Soma Vanilla" very slow rates. Strip out alot of the higher level content and bring it out in stages like Esoma did. Maybe just start with tyt, merc and the dung but make it so no 50+str route so no one gimps there stats

"FINITO"Any ideas on how to setup some way of 'voting' changes in?

There is a lot of white noise in this thread already due to the wide range off issues people have with the game.

I think the best thing to do would be to make like 4 or 5 separate threads on the main issues. Eg

pvp and balancing changes
upgrades & drop rates
Cheaters, bots exploits & anti social players
Server 2.0 / Soma vanilla
Possibly new content direction

Give it some time and let people debate it out and when the threads slow down pick out the key ideas / consensus and put them to a vote.

THIS

100% I want the esoma experience again as i know many people do

(I'd have rates back to x1 of current server) - still rapid but not excessive

30 con start no int from healing

I'd spend time on both the fast rates for some Tov / Wotw etc but also plenty of time on the esoma slower rate server.

Twin server is the best idea i've seen currently, you'd get people back for the nostalgia who would then probably log on their old chars on the faster server

I'm not as commited as the rest of you and basically this is my first char that is even close to lvl 100. I always made new chars when I got to the point where I "had" to hunt hoarde or BLG at around 84-90str. I hated to cliff and wait for someone to be able to tank. This time around I got a lot of help with eva and it made it so easy.

1, So if there is gonna be a new server like someone proposed just earlier I would like to have a better option of getting evasion items at early lvls or preferebly tweak the lvling route a bit. I love the stat system in HSOMA but at the same I dislike that its really hard to not do the optimal route from the lvling guides.. If I feel that I waste % I just can't enjoy the game lol.

2, I'd also vote for no item drop on death like someone posted earlier and he/she suggested that we make use of the POS system instead = death = POS loss. Currently I'm at the point where I'm using items that other players have made and that I have no way of creating for myself if I lost any of it. And I see that other players have some really seriously upgraded items that would be so hard to replace. I just think its bad way to go about it but I guess some ppl like it.

3, Also I would love if storeage space could be made at least double as big. I don't have a lot of expensive items but I damn sure have a lot of storeage chars filled with shit that I think I might need some day. Maybe just an "hoarder" issue thought.

Then a more random idea below

4, Also if there is a new server, could we not make more use of all the stats to make more diffrent builds? Would most likely require a lot of work but we have for example CON and CHA that could be utilized for more than just Health/Bagweight and Part size? It could be raw dmg/def of sort or maybe stat requirements to have like 80 CON or CHA for crowd control magics/auras? And probably make new sets of armours and weapons that fit that route. Just an basic idea and not something I been thinking much about. It would probably require too much work but it sounds cool with a charisma build ~_~

5, remodel the val weapons, they look very out of place. No disrespect to whoever made them thought.

6, Might be really stupid and probably impossible idea but maybe a stat system where it doesn't matter what mob you hunt, you still gain the same stats per % (but still depend on what weapon etc.). But the % is based on how easy or hard the mob is. I don't mean like dsoma thought.

7, Bald haircut.

a simple re-colouring to more soma-like items would be most welcome, as too would down-sizing of most to more realistic sizes
