devil mage leveling guide

This guide is great but I have one question. When levelling a melee character you must make sure you are at least 30 strength under the mob to receive maximum gains.... Is there something similar with magic mobs?

It is not true for either Melee classes or Magic classes.

It's simply preferable.

So how is it calculated?

Until you're nearing endgame, it matters not what you hunt, but if you must know...

If the monster has 30 or more INT than you, you will gain 1.3* your regular stat gains.
If the monster has between 1~29 more INT than you, you will gain 1.0* your regular stats.
If the monster has 0~29 less INT than you, you will gain 0.7* your regular stats.

If the monster has 30 less INT than you, you will gain 0.0* your regular stats.

So if you hunt something that gives you 1.0x str and not 1.3x, do you permanently lose that 0.3x or can you eventually get it later?

Just to add to work S0rc said, if you're 50 str below a monster you will get even better gains than below 30 str (tested this myself at KL and WBM).

Ideally most people just want the best stats for their level. I don't think it matters at the end of the day because it looks like I'll reach the STR cap before level 100 anyway (and that's as knuckle, the class with low STR gains, albeit better than bow and mage).

If you find trolls still hurt too much at 140, you can stay at Drazil Druid until 155.

Am currently 65 int with firestorm-x. Is there somewhere better than Evolved Beasts I can be? I've been there since 40ish int already.
