You should just be hunting for the fastest % atm due to the upcoming patch. Just try hunt the mob that gives you the fastest exp, so you should be at altered beasts yes.

Whats the best way now that its based on EXP you gain and not on the INT gap

Without a tank I would guess at egf
With a tank enslaved beast
Sadly both are in the dungeon (both also require you to nerf your int until you finish levelling)
If max int level normally, I found kl with a tank was fast
Drazil druid and trolls seem fastest and most barr gained to support hunts, ferals have tight pockets it seems and no notable difference in levelling speed

Do we have an up-to-date dsoma mage levelling guide anywhere...

Drazils aint to bad to hunt, but trolls are still a pain in the butt
