"NEOXIAN"Str was reduced and Dex was buffed By how much? |

The reason sword (at 100/100) could give 3x more str than dex would be due to the amount of XP needed for dex to go up. Ie a mob gives 10 XP, your STR needs 5 XP and dex needs 20 XP. One mob would give 0.2 STR but only 0.05 dex.

Sucks that the str was reduced for sword but I welcome the con increase especially with a shield ;)

By str increases dex gain.
Im pretty sure he means , if you have 100 str and kill a warith it will die much quicker than if you have 70 str, so the more damage you do to a mob the faster you will gain a stat, so if you get 100 str then go bow and hit a mob you will do more damage than someone who did knuckle then bow, so surely you will get faster stats. I think the fact you hit less is meant to balance this out, but not so sure it does.

Reading this has now doubted me ever picking up an Axe or any other weapon. your basically saying you can now go pure sword from lvl 1 all the way to end game if you want. Then skill another weapon if you wanted to use it later on in the game. I never knew that Sword gave 1:1 if i knew this i would of gone sword.
Oh well nvm tho Its all fun in the end lol /Blue

Even as pure sword your still forced to do bow after the 95 str slow down so I wouldn't worry about it. I'd love to stay pure sword but it's not viable and it looks like the skill cap will force me to drop sword if I want to keep my int up in the future.

When 95str/dex are achieved I believe sword will be a good balanced weap long term.
I picked up bow for a bit for trace but it's becoming apparent I will need to train with it more before I can go back to sword. Just need to be clever with the skill cap. In an ideal world you could pick which skill is lost ;o

Agreed with Iphios
At the moment I'm really torn on what to do as I need to plan what skills due to the skill cap, if we can maybe choose what one we'd lose that'd be ideal. To be honest as above, pure sword is not viable but it got me perfectly where i needed to be in order to do a bit of bow etc. whereas almost everyone around my level had to do 2 weapons to keep dex/str balanced. I still don't agree with bow having the attack is does on weapons coupled with the range, its ridiculous to say the least.

My issue with bow is click lock and off screen hitting. Click log shouldn't be possible in pvp (don't know how easy it is to change). And bow should be range 7 or something to prevent off screen hitting.

I did not play the test server much if at all, therefore, can anyone in the know confirm the following for me.
With regard to weapon combo's, do the weapons you pick up make that much of a material difference at end game or is there just a slight variance? For example after a certain point is it detrimental to a characters stat gain to be a axe/knux user over that of a sword/bow user? More specificially is the difference between bow and knuckle at end game material? If the difference is only slight, that is not much of a problem. If the difference is material, does this make some weapons obsolete at end game? If so, would it not be better to put it right now and not at a later stage when people are on their way within these gains at which point it may cause havoc to change it. Maybe there is no difference, comments are appreciated.

"SHATTERSTAR"I did not play the test server much if at all, therefore, can anyone in the know confirm the following for me. If im right, then what people may be saying is that if your STR is too high before you hit the DEX hardcap, then DEX will be painfully slow. I think you have to keep STR as low as possible until you get past the hardcap, this is just guesswork though.

In all honesty, I don't think anyone truly understands how stats are gained in Soma.
No one has ever fully explained how it works, we all just assume it works how we were always told via here say. I personally have never noticed a % per dex slowdown even when 18 str higher than dex. What DOES make dex slower, is the fact that for example: 85 str, 60 dex, dex wise you should be killing Wraith or DW, but because of your Strength you will have to hunt higher mobs i.e. mess / ban, which your dex would be too low to hunt properly, meaning slow leveling. ~
