Caligo's Quest Log.

Hi all,

I plan to quest from level 1 to level 100 basically to get a rough guide of how newcomers would experience the game and also to see how well their chars turn out to be.

So the plan;
Weapons - Sword and Staff the reason i choose Sword is I assume "Balanced" stands out most to new comers on character creation as most will have no idea where to manually allocate stats.

Starting Stats - That's right you guessed it i have created a character using the "Balanced" option, read above for more info regarding this.

Order of quests taken - I will take each quest one after the other as they are in the quest tab.

What i will include on each analysis of a quest -
Time taken to complete,
How i feel whilst i'm on the quest,
A rating out of 10 for Time, effort and expenses/Reward ratio,
Any drops i see as 'Rare' (e.g herbs, frogs, sp, at, tagged armor, tagged weps ect),
Anything i think needs changing,
Any bugs or faults.

A little about me I have a lvl 40 main character currently which i don't play very often, I have played soma for 6 years possibly and joined this server a while back after my brothers introduced me to it my brothers have been playing for a fair bit longer than me are very knowledgeable (they won't be named due to rivalrys in-game which could effectively ruin my attempts of completing this) but it will be great to compare stats to them and show you guys the results of the quest system :D

Thank you for your time i hope you guys start following!!

Nice idea.
However on Dsoma for example there are quests I could of done 20 levels ago or so that want me to kill hundreds of a mob that 1 hits me...

Don't know if Hsoma has any similar to that.
Look forward to seeing your progress.
Enjoy :)

Quest #1
Receive Fortune tickets
Guskeo - Level 1
Reward 250 barr

Starting Level - 1
Level on completion - 1

It was quick and easy i got to explore the useful vendors in TyT and it took barely any effort.

No drops this quest is a passive quest.

Took 3 minutes to complete.

8/10 Reward to effort ratio the only reason i don't give a 10 is because at higher levels it is easier to kill a mob and get the reward.

Nothing needs changing maybe add a hint as to where i could find these npc's but wouldn't take much longer than 10 mins to find them for someone completely new.

No bugs to report.

Quest #2
Saving Santa
Town Cryer - Level 1
Objective - Slay 30 Elf
Reward - Attack buff potion x 1

Due to elfs being non-exsistant atm i could not take this quest.
I feel sorry for the new comers that are stuck looking for elfs.

Quest #3
The Grey
Town Cryer - Level 2
Objective - Slay 25 Dire Wolf
Reward - 15 Small hp potions

Starting Level - 2
Level on completion - 4

Luckily dire wolfs are just outside of TyT so they are easy to find overall it was easy and i used 0 potions and 0 barr no expense at all i felt it introduced me to combat and i wasn't thrown in the deep end.

No drops worth shouting about.

9/10 the reason i didn't give this a 10 is because i feel as my first combat quest out of the safe zone (TyT) it should show me how to access the map and hint that dire wolfs are just out side of either gate and that the gates can be found East and West of town.

No bugs to report.

This is amazing!

The second quest is a seasonal quest. It was from the last Christmas event.

We'll keep a close eye on this thread. :)

Quest #4
Honouring your skills
Town Cryer - Level 3
Objective - Slay 25 Leocrot
Reward - Small mana potion x15

Starting Level - 4
Level on completion - 8

I managed to find Leocrots with ease considering they were right next to dire wolfs which i slayed 25 of in my last quest, it was a perfect step up from the last quest as it got me using pots and watching the screen more drawing me in.

Time taken to complete was approx. 11 mins

6/10 Effort to reward ratio this would of received a lower rating if it was not for the learning curve i mentioned earlier in this post but that is only personal opinion as i'm going to be pure sword for the first 20 levels atleast before i do int? i think... i would of much preferred the choice of hp potions or mana rather than just mana nonetheless it gets me using pots which would primarily be the goal here?

A suggestion i would make is dropping a tip in the quest description such as "Don't forget to use your potions"

No drops out of the ordinary leather, meat, horns ect

No bugs.

Quest #5
Purging the Graveyard
Town Cryer - Level 4
Objective - Slay 50 mummies
Reward - Rare - Intense Studded helm and Light leather armor

Starting Level - 8
Level on completion - 11

This is where the map is helpful because in the description you simply get Kill 50 mummies and it's called purging the graveyard, I mean it's fairly obvious where the graveyard is once you look at the map which brings me back to Quest #3 where i think it should introduce you to the map, overall it was a fun quest i got to hunt something a bit tougher and had to do my first pot run.

Time taken to complete is approx. 17 1/2 mins (not including pot run time)

9/10 effort to reward ratio it makes hunting a lot easier having armor even more so if it's tagged!

Maybe drop a tip in reminding players the reagent vendor sells potions.

I had Rare Blue shirt and Rare Blue pants drop about half way through which helped a hell of a lot on saving potions.

No bugs.

Quest #6
Eye of the tiger
Town Cryer - Level 4
Objective - Slay 30 Savannah Tiger
Reward - Medium heal potion x15

Starting Level - 11
Level on completion - 12

I actually thought this one was good, nice and easy. Also the Town cryer suggested i stayed away from the Orcish territory which was a good heads up ;)

Time taken to complete is approx. 9 mins

10/10 effort to reward ratio, there was 0 expenses i didn't use any potions and i gained 15 on completion meaning i was up.

Nothing to suggest.

I had several un-tagged pieces of clothing drop and a spear which gave my barr a nice little boost.

No bugs.

Quest #7
Errands for head of town
Head of town - Level 5
Objective - Pick up an axe from the Blacksmith and then deliver it to Mountain keeper who lives in the house north -west of TyT
Reward - 800 barr, 2 stige metal, 10 hp and mp potions

Starting Level - 12
Level on completion - 12

A passive quest the head of town hints at where the mountain keeper is and was smooth going.

Time taken to complete approx. 4 minutes

10/10 reward/effort ratio it's basically free items?

Nothing to suggest.

No Bugs.
