I have been told by several people in game that "cliffing" is now perfectly legal and acceptable (I thought it wasn't because bosses were being lured to cliffs and, in response, Finito/ISylver changed the bosses so you had to have direct line of sight)..... Of course, I could be wrong :(
However, it being the case that cliffing is "ok", it has led to a number of other scenarios and I would appreciate comment as to whether they are "legal", "ethical" or "illegal". And, in each case, whether or not a remedy is appropriate .... 1) Is cliffing actually legal? 2) Is luring mobs to a cliff legal and/or ethical? 3) Is luring mobs to a cliff with a second character legal and/or ethical whilst continually killing them with your other on top of the cliff? 4) Is luring mobs PAST a player who is otherwise engaged with 1 or 2 mobs legal and/or ethical ? 5) Is luring mobs PAST a player who is engaged with 1 or 2 mobs where some of the lured mobs "peel off" and attack that player legal and/or ethical? 6) Is luring mobs AWAY from a player to a "tank" for yourself to kill legal and/or ethical? 7) Can you use your own tank (and not attack) to facilitate endless free killing for your other character? 8) Can you use your own tank (as "7" above) AND run around grabbing all the other mobs to prevent other players from hitting them (Or use a bow as they spawn to make them come to you)? 9) Can you purposely stand in such a spot KNOWING that spawning mobs will come to you and/or your other character that you are tanking for (thus, preventing the mobs from going to another player(s)? (Because they attack down and left) 10) Can you use multiple characters (both your own) to block ramps and amass mobs to kill (preventing others from getting near) ? ...... I understand that no one "owns" the mobs. However, in at least some of the instances above it would be easy for someone to argue they were not doing anything wrong. Regardless, in the scenarios above, would it be fine to; 1) Attack mobs that have been lined up elsewhere for someone to "cliff"? 2) Lure mobs away from the cliff again? 3) Attack mobs that are heading for an (in)active tanker? 4) Frostwind mobs around a tanker who was purposely taking the mobs and purposely ensuring other players could not get them? 5) Frostwind mobs stuck by ramps held by players deliberately? 6) Go berserk and PK people and retain the moral high ground? .... Just wondering ..... 8) Jac

I think that putting too many rules into a game actually ruins it. If you are able to do something within the game physics then you should be allowed to do it.
It's a PvP game. If someone is pissing you off, kill them, take their mobs, life the mobs away from the cliff. Assert your own justice and please don't get a new rule added.

"ZYAR"please don't get a new rule added. I am not looking for a new rule to be added, just clarity on what is or is not acceptable ..... and, what is or is not acceptable in response .... 8) Jac |

GHOSTLORD14) Do not lure monsters into areas where you have a clear advantage. When you kill a monster in a hut or a house make sure the entrance is not blocked. Blocking the entrance will give you an advantage when u read the first line only it says its not allowed. Kekket

Seriously? an essay about cliffing.
This server has become a joke with all the petty moaning or "Discussion" as I'm sure jac will claim it is. No one gave a fuck when I was cliffing kobs back in 2003 and no one should care now. Get a grip! #KobClifferAndProud

GHOSTLORD |
First scenarios:
1) Yes. It's quite logical that something you can see over can be shot over. 2) It is legal. But it also means you have less control over the drops and the mobs. 3) See 2. 4/5) I don't see how this scenario is different than 2. Especially if there are enough mobs. Though if the mob does decide to go to the other guy, you'll have to ask if you can hit it. Though this is a social rule not an official. 6) This is not a party hunting game. I don't see the issue? Especially if there are plenty of mobs which is usually the case. 7) This has never been a problem. As long as you are not afk. 8/9) Hogging mobs is never nice. Hoggins mobs near a cliff is just weird. It's not socially acceptable I'd say but it's definately not against the rules. 10) This is a usual situation at ie Hoarde Shanis. However monopolising a mob or spawn is against the rules. it is also nearly impossible in that spot. Second scenarios: 1) This clearly depends on the situation. If there are plenty of mobs, why would you bother? If there aren't, people will have to learn to share. This includes cliffers. It actually should be easier because rather than using a tank you could ask the people hunting there if you can shoot their second mobs. 2) Just as with 1, if it's not neccessary it's not nice at all. But a social rule rather than an official one. However again if there aren't enough mobs, you need to share. 3) As 1 / 2. 4/5) This counts as revenge. Very fulfulliing but usually only causes trouble. Do so at your own risk. Again, not very 'nice' but definately not against the rule unless done on a regular basis rather than punishing someone for hogging mobs. 6) The most simple solution, if you can take the tank! Not against the rules unless it is done on a regular basis. So simply put - use some common sense. Don't hog more mobs than you need and if you do (accidently or otherwise) share them with the others.

Thank you Ghostlord for your comprehensive and very clear reply - it is very useful, I appreciate the time and trouble you took in replying as you did.
"BRAINDATA"... or "Discussion" as I'm sure jac will claim it is. ... Yes I would claim it to be ... and sensible replies from other players and Ghostlord enforce that. Enjoy your Kobs. 8) Jac
