Using basic materials, this is an average crafted item from a run of 9 tries. Made 5 of these 2x 8-16 and 1x 8-15
Cyphus Top (M) Defense : 9~16 Weight : 10 Durability : 2259 Req. Str : 79 This is one crafted using top materials and a large ruby Cyphus Top (M) Defense : 10~17 Weight : 11 Durability : 2259 Req. Str : 79 I expected a much better increase in defense... Has the def been capped when the item was made craft able?

I think on normal crafting, maximum gain is 3-3 over normal (perhaps gated by skill) and as far as i know the ruby can't go beyond that, but increases the chance to hit a higher roll. So you've gained 2-2 over normal, could just be a bad roll, or I could be completely off-base.
As with weapons, I think best results will be mid-range easy to get materials and spamming for a decent tag.

Crafted items has always felt crap to me, even with top items and gems.
Only real way for a decent craft item us to get lucky with the tag system I do think top mats should increase the chance at a tag |
