I've recently gone back to spear to do a few strength levels & Its crazy how under powered it is in comparison to the other weapons out there. It stands in between Axe & Sword for strength gains but we don't get the added bonus of using a shield. The mobs we have to hunt are far less superior for stats, not to mention the fact we have the speed set to E by default.

Spear needs this buff badly to be competitive in stat gains and hunting efficiency.

If you speed spear up to speed D, then there will be no point what so ever in going sword / bow, as you can just go D speed spear and bow.
Spear is a choice, great PvP at a price, the price is attacking speed. Further down the line, people will likely upgrade their beloved slow weapons to speed C or better. Making spear base speed D is opening a can of worms, as how will that affect upgraded spear speeds down the line? I also believe PD is another example of a can of worms, it adds 15% of the users strength in defense, so what happens endgame when an axer has 160 strength? +24 defense, that's what happens lol, then add an end game shield, strength rings, etc. etc. It is a great aura for hunting but I can see it becoming a PvP favourite end game, helping to render almost any ones attacks to minimum damage.

I agree 2nd Axe is OP.
I do not think Spear should be buffed, though. |

2nd axe and spear are both perfectly fine as they are. I'm a spear user and always will be because it owns when you get higher skill. Do epic spears drop as speed D as they did in esoma? As i'm yet to see a conq/5* at speed D ;o

I went spear thinking that it would be possible to get some d speeds through the tag system, I've had a few epics through leveling and none have even broken close to d speed. Where others can move onto new mobs sooner including nuck now they have been buffed, we have to stay at lower mobs.
Even if it was made possible somehow so that rare/epics would break into d speed that would be good but it would be even better to have the standard speed as d

Well if not the speed then what about changing 2nd aura so instead of power 5, it adds 10% of your strength.
or would this be too op for dsoma? |

"ORANGE"Well if not the speed then what about changing 2nd aura so instead of power 5, it adds 10% of your strength. I would believe so. To answer the question what max speed gain is you can calculate it yourself. Take the base speed of the weapon deduct 40% for your average intense item.

The main problem I have with spear is that I obviously can't use a shield but I don't have anything to make up for the lack of defense. I have to stay at weaker mobs for a lot longer because I take far too much damage. It would help if 3rd Spear made up for this but its 100% useless, barely regens any HP and the cooldown is far too long.

I believe this was increased to 100% on ESoma and 5th was 150%. I don't think this will upset a lot balance wise since those auras aren't used as much as 2nd (more than 4th though). I'm not the one making the dicision however - I do wonder what iSylver thinks.

It was increased to 100% for 3rd and 150% for 5th from what I remember yeah, that's also what it's listed as in Relkcunk's PDF manual.
If 3rd stays the same as it is, I may as well never learnt it. If I look at the amount of HP gained from it, I'm actually worse off because the mob is alive for longer and has a chance to deal more damage to me. (If that makes sense)
