Its not the problem that black magic is weaker, it is pretty much the same damage wise to everything white magic can offer.

The problem is that cure is just better than everything else, unless its changed, the majority of people at 90+ int will still be white.

the way i see it blue magic should have been made to cover all the status effects for hsoma, since most of the spirit spells are for the most part not used.

change the 4 spirit spells to cover cure, blind, confuse and poison, job done.

but its far to late in the day to make a big change to how magic is worked it wont happen, but IMO the whole way magic works in hsoma should have been addressed years ago.

I still think its crazy that a level 1 cure can rid anyone of a lvl 3-4 blind/poisen/giggle/slow

only benefit from upgrading cure is what ? less mp + further range ?

Maybe its not a morale standpoint ? maybe you should look at slowing down the gaining of blue/black/white magic skill.... getting to 100 white skill for me was faaaaar to easy.

If it was slowed right down and then the requirement was 100 white skill.... you may have a solution, whether or not its too late to deploy any of the shit anyone is coming up with is isylver/finito's choice.

imo, nothing will change with this.

I agree that the levels of cure should be as this:

Level 1 Cure: Cures level 1 debuffs
Level 2 Cure: Cures level 1 and 2 debuffs
Level 3 Cure: Cures level 1, 2 and 3 debuffs
Level 4 Cure: Cures level 1, 2, 3 and 4 debuffs

Have always thought this, though.

I don't see how changing the speed in which magic skill is gained will solve anything at this point in the game.

MDC's idea what interesting, however I believe new spells should be made to do this. Possibly given to black mages. The ability to only cure one debuff at a time, with a different spell would be annoying, but also be a bonus to black mages down to the fact they do not have any spell to do as such. White magic cure should be left alone, black mages will have the chance to cure individual debuffs with individual spells.

Complete removal of waters should acompany any changes as such.

Edit: On top of this, dsoma waters should be removed and the cure debuffs given to them as auras (however not effected by the cooldown on actual auras) and at very low cooldown.

I still think that a much simpler and more effective option is to make cure angel requirement. Whilst not actually empowering black mages directly, it enables blind, weaken, confuse, giggle, slow to be used... It also means that at the gvw there wouldnt just be an army of curers for eq/dyn...

Just make cure have two casting cycles like all curse spells, and make it remove only one curse at a time... not all of them in one go.

Edit ---

just a thought:

would it be better for cure to negate durations of one curse at a time instead?

With level 1 cure only negating a duration of 20 secs, level 2 duration of 25 and level 3 for 30 seconds.
for example level three blind with duration of 30 seconds can be negated with only level 3 cure,
level 2 cure would only then negate the blinds duration to 5 seconds. They would have to cast twice to remove it completely then.

To counter the power of cure, buff poison, make level 3 and 4 poison really badass:)

You don't get EXP or stats from the 'ticks' of poison, so it wouldn't matter really.

I don't think this will be a solution for cure but I do think poison needs to be buffed - or well, it should do something.
