still think having an opt out feature would be good, at least until you are over a certain level, or maybe if you die over a certain amount of times in a day then you aren't allowed to get pk'd again for at least a certain amount of time.

Should only be able to PK in a 10 level range higher/lower, and people who are pk'd should have an anti-PK aura for a random amount of time [stops pkers waiting for a set timer to end].
The pking in this game has gone way too far, its unfortunately become "endgame" because there's nothing for capped players to do. I for one think it is pathetic that a level 100 can attack a level 80. I mean, really? Doubt that action will be taken, but it's so easy to fix.. only -10/+10 pk-range anti-pk aura which dissipates on a random timer i know people will say "use a resi" and "teleport to town" but lets face it, resi's run out eventually and then you have to warp - for what? Being forced to warp, then run, warp, then run etc etc.. its really an appalling aspect of this game. Its the amount of "dead-time" that a PK attempt on you generates. It's gotta stop. You have stopped the dropping of items, you have stopped the loss of items - so dont pretend your not willing to make radical changes. Just let the lvl 100's crash and burn against each other and leave the rest of us alone. Also, literally x10 the difficulty of loosing devil moral. Just my piece - pking is an awful aspect of this game. It ONLY benefits the hardcore 24/7 365 days/year crowd. Let people fight at wars and events. Make more wars and event. A Mercenary town GV, an Abias GV!! Anyway.. finished my sandwich

Fantastic argument, almost like theres nothing wrong with the how far pking can and does go at times. So why bother reigning it in, in some way. ISelix wasn't saying PVP shouldn't exist in case you wondered.

The PK function on soma has always been something that people resort to when they are bored. Add in bad behaviour of whatever description and you have a tool to be abused. It has always been this way. During ESoma the justification for PK'ing was often "It's my role-play". Very few if any people actually use Soma as a role playing game. On this server the justification seems only ever to be "it's a PvP game". Despite this when PK is turned off either for a short time or an extended period we do not see a mass drop in players. Sure, a few people moan on the forum but it is never the apocalypse that pro-PK players claim will occur if we lose PK'ing. Indeed right now the game is very full, relatively speaking, with players and yet PK was off for an extended period. I do not believe that something like that which Iselix suggests would be harmful. In fact I think it would be beneficial to the game and in particular to the GMs who currently act as PK deterrent by proxy (via constant on/off of the PK function) at the whim of player behaviour.
