Dev stat allocation

I have been on test and done a few % just enough to lvl and upon hitting lvl 101, I have gone to allocate stats, I was only allowed to allocate 1 for str, 1 for dex and 1 for con, I had 3 stats left so that's for either INT or WIS.

if they are going to force this system on us, can we at least have it open so we can actually have some variation on our characters, otherwise every class of dev is going to have the same build.

is this set up stone GM team?

I have been trying to be a fan of this new dev system change but if we getting 1 str, dex and con per level after 101 then that is a joke.

So I am going to work my ass off from 100-110 to get 10 extra str, dex and con?

2 str, dex and con will at least be a lot better.

considering we was getting 5 str, dex and con between lvls 95-100

You have to understand 2 things:

1 - If there is no change and we continue as we did before, Axers will have something like 400 STR while classes that use DEX are hardcapped at 215 (I cant remember the number). This also throws balance off a ton because we already dont hurt axes much, but when they further increase their STR over other classes they will take min from all.

2 - If you give people enough points or higher caps they just dump everything into STR and the whole system breaks down. You can't give people optional STR/DEX/CON because those who choose STR (which is everyone) just do insane damage. People don't try personalised or varied builds with tank specs, dex specs, balanced, they just max STR and ignore wis and int. And you know that you would too.

Overall this new system stops devil stats going wildly out of balance, and it stops players just building characters that do crazy damage at the cost of INT and WISDOM. It's really the best possible outcome.

There are some issues with class balance (read PTR forum) but it's nothing compared to either having no stat point system, or having really big limits on melee stats.

[edit] Arya and Afro, you also forget that you get bonus stats every 5 or 10 levels too.

didn't forget the bonus 5 stats but what if we can only allocate 1 of the 5 for str again that means in the 10 lvls my str is still going to be massively lower then it is now, im already going to be losing 156.9 stats from midnight tonight, im not saying to not have a stat cap but at least make it 2 str and 2 dex, keep at 1 for con.

My other point would be will the WOTW % be reset tonight as if it stays the same devils wont be winning for a few weeks.

Are we going to get an increase in spawns for mobs such as wbm, hogs and apai?

Whatever you lose is nothing compared to spears and axers, anyway.But - It doesn't matter, because it's all relative.

You have the same base stats as Melk, 69, Stones, Removedtoast. Maybe you have more because some are Gen 1. So why does it matter how many you all lose and gain, the point is knux will have the same stats as each other, which is a bonus to older characters who leveled before hogs and apai. Everything is standard, for all classes.

Then the issue is balance issues between classes. Do you have enough STR/DEX/CON compared to archer and sword? Can you hurt axer? Does everyone his you all the time? These are the issues, not how muc hwe lose.

And it's much much worse for people who punched characters too.

Think for anyone that's been level 100 awhile the idea of coming back for 10 levels to hit a brand new brick wall is fairly pointless...
A lot of people I used to speak to were playing while they were doing a night shift or whatever; if that's your bag and it gives you a bit more play then sweet but give it little time and the same predicament happens.
The system is heavily flawed - everyone knows that, even the GMs know that but the work has gone in, it's going live and they can change it up however they like.
Dsoma was created without any thought or perception of balance.
It was built how it was built so that 5 months later those devil chars could compete with hsoma chars who had been there for 3 years.
The soma addiction is still so strong on a lot of people that they'd probably like a wipe and they'd just level again happy as Larry until level 110 - enjoying all the soma firsts again - first guild, first level 50 etc etc.
When I first played Soma I loved exploration - I really wish new maps and stuff had been top of the list because that would genuinely intrigue me to install.
I think Finito has done a lot of amazing work, I do think that perhaps the hours on this system have been misspent somewhat but that's life you win some you lose some.
Hopefully long term it makes everyone happier - this server will always suit hsoma because that's where the outspoken usercount live - they want to compete 1vs1 with devils with weps and they will definitely get their wish.
As for Devil mages I thought this patch was meant to help them not punish them further lol
I'm sure the player base will be chuffed for a week or two like the combine update.
In the end for me it needs serious new content.

I get all that, I just think having some variety amongst the same class of char would be good, like now I wish I had done more punch lvls 95-100, but with patch now im glad I didn't.

Just a question, ther's no more bonus stats like doing full lvl punch. Punch removed?

Yes. Punch does nothing now.

Level on what you want and get the same stat points to allocate when you level up.

As a direct result of overall stat reductions on d soma kill rates and leveling are also reduced making upgrading more unattainable . Some balance? Ultimately d soma dead .

I was thinking as above in my first post, if I allocate the 1 str,1 dex and 1 con im left with 3 stats so I put into wisdom, that means when I hit lvl 110 I have quite high magic def, not sure how that helps balance.

You say dead we say improved.

- The UC is higher
- The game is more obtainable
- Balance is better
