"PATHOLOGIST"So having skim read most of these threads, it looks like its gone full circle from Archer soma, to as balanced as it could be (to some it was 'Axe soma' - those who couldn't comprehend that pre-patch all classes had their uses) back to being archer soma. no its actually not all classes do insane dmg but archers can as usual higher dex and can hit from range thus they take less dmg. con is fked up at def is a joke swordies hit+5th ppl spear similar situation

Is that putting it too bluntly or did I read correctly?
You are correct! The only caveat is that most of us agree that when all the new items and upgrades get properly into the game, and people have time to combine intense and upgrade items to +5 (so months and months and months) it should be pretty well balanced. For people who realise that, the only issue is that we are asking for a temporary solution (across-the-board bump of CON which we feel is easily covered under the new stat point allocation system). I liked how the game was before the patch, but I understood completely that if you unlock 10 more levels the disparities between axer str and others would mean most classes did near min to them, while I believe dex is hard capped at like 210? so everyone would have the same dex too. I also understood that it was pretty dumb that archers like me who punched were literally twice as useful as pure bow ones. We need this new system, and its well made, its just that when defences are so low compared to attacks...archer wins out because they can mitigate ALL damage through movement, while still dishing out heavy damage. We also feel like the game has a lot lower skill requirement like this, you just need to have 3 ppl hitting 1 target and they die without coordination or auras. So any time a 5th stone drops...so does the stones player. Resulting in a lot of melee people running around to avoid taking melee damage. It's one tweak, or six months, from being well balanced and really fun. The quality of life changes are absolutely brilliant in this patch (pk town, quick sell, buyback, cool new quests etc).

@pathologist the most notable difference is this system has a future and can be tweaked at any time. :)
@Strelka The DEX / WIS caps of 214.7 have been fixed and removed. iSylver has been very busy making all kinds of DSoma things. So I believe it shouldn't take 6 months at all.

"GHOSTLORD" Ah, I guess the same argument applies about needing to uncouple both attack AND defence from STR because of stat disparities between classes - if axers and spears are allowed to gain 10 lvls more in the same way as 90-100 everyone will do min to them :P I think AP has had 2 untag bucklers, 1 Devil Ally and 3 Yellow pills drop collectively now - in >1000 man hours of play lol. I do think that when a class that wants to take less damage can do more than just wear intense invul (which doesnt do enough), it will be better for balance. But we dont see the kind of drop rates to make that achievable soon. Other than this attack/defence balance, the new patch is amazing. Hope GMs dont think we hate the game, we all love it. It's just that PK is a big part of keeping dsoma so fun, and it's in a quite unenjoyable place at the moment for these reasons. Game is great otherwise.

But you are assuming things will stay like it is currently. What about next event? What about next patch? What about the possibilities of new Magma's or an update for them? What about next lvl cap raise? We've already it wouldn't take half as long to make the next one because the first one was the most work.
I understand what you're saying. Though a 1000 hours of playtime isn't that much if you take the whole of dsoma and take a time span of 6 months. We don't want to give you guys so much that you can make the gear in a month - because then you'll be running around with +8 gear or whatnot before we know it. We see that you are enjoying the game. We see it ingame every day. I personally love all the feedback and I'm sure the other guys do too. There aren't a lot of players who combine feedback from the community and summarise it into sensible friendly posts. Great work! That being said, this whole topic is doing well.

Maybe it’d be an idea to x2 drop rates for the new access/upgrades for a short period. I know it wouldn’t solve everything but I feel like it’d help things along.
I do feel like a temporary con buff would be better tbh, but if that’s not viable then this would help. Also I think this is absolutely spot on: "STRELKA"

Spear 5th being classed as a defensive aura, and then doing no damage but healing the same amount would be pretty good. Maybe the numbers or % has to be manipulated, but a huge lifesteal for like 75% hp would help spears in terms of survivability - as well as just give them something else to use than 1st. I dont think it would be justified to allow a spear to do full dmg 2nd and full dmg 5th within 1/4 of a second however. If it's reworked it has to lose its instant case dmg status in return for utility.
2nd sword is pretty pointless at the moment - perhaps its worth making it like a mini PD for axers (half the bonus def perhaps?) In the same way that bow dodge is to knux dodge.
Alternatively both could have a bump in 1st dmg over other classes, but that doesnt really influence survivability...only makes the problem worse.
I think most classes are in a good place now relative to each other other than spear, which really has zero use at present (outside GVW where they are fully overpowered). Each has a valuable niche. We've even seen mages used to good effect in world pvp of late, and at the last GVW.
If there was something like a 10-15-20% reduction in damage from all sources, kills would require coordination and it might be worth trying to fight 2v3 or 3v4 because you know superior play can work out in that scenario without instant death for anyone trying to tank 3 melee.
