Devil Crafting and Materials.

"MONSTER"Alright, i guess giving it time is fair, i just hope the dsoma community is big enough to find things out in a decent time :p

If there are enough mats on Dsoma! ^^

---------

Quoting Monster from the Workshop forums.

I've burnt through over 12,000 Sgems (4,800,000 barr's worth) and I've just reached 25skill.
It takes months to accumulate that amount of mats and only hours to use it up.
Material sources need revising.

As a direct comparison...

Accessory crafting on Hsoma, a ring requires 3 copper.
1 copper is easier to obtain than 1 Sgem as it is restocked in the thousands every several hours.
It is also far cheaper as each copper doesn't break the bank at less than 100barr (less than 50 even) whereas the market value of an Sgem is 400barr.

It's like crafting accessories with your sole source of mats being Alternate gems, except you don't have a Farm.

I tried out Darian, where a 45minute hunt wielded less than 50 demon wood.
Also went to Kivela and Mordants (which have the same drop-rate on demon wood/demon leather respectively) and I had around the same quantity of mats / minute as I did at Darian, as there was much more running involved.

Considering it takes the best part of an hour to obtain just 1 3/rd of the mats to create 20rings and you need quite literally hundreds of thousands of mats, it isn't wholly unreasonable to request a restock vendor that at least holds the base materials of Wood, Leather and Metal.

I can assure you it doesn't cost the best part of 5million barr's worth of materials to reach 25skill on Hsoma.

I estimated it to cost about 300k for 27 skill in wep crafting as a comparison.

My gems! :'(

What I don't like is that barr drops were reduced on dsoma significantly, and our other income was the use of sgems.

Now Sgems are a necessity for crafting, it completely removes a huge section of our income.

Coupled with the fact that to attend a wotw and have any sort of impact (survive for more than 10seconds out of the s-zone) it is essential to burn through +100s and serums, we now have such a huge divide between the cash we can make and the cash we have to spend.

I understand that crafting is an option, but so far the combined effort of our guild we have spend nearly 5million barr and not even at 30 skill.

I can't imagine how it would be if more than 1 player on dsoma were to attempt to go for lets say 100skill.

As I said in the previous thread. It's been just over a day since implementation. Perhaps we have more plans for dsoma crafting?

It certainly isnt supposed to be the same as hsoma crafting economy. It also depends what side your looking from you could now sell your special gems to a crafter and therefore make more money than you normally would on a hunt.

In conclusion don't moan after a day and a very much basic implementation of crafting.

I guess the main problem is we cant see wether its actualy worth it yet :p

Went on my lvl 54 archer to try for some materials, took 2 hours 3 hitting fire worms for 4 metals and a hour and a half killing abs to get 0 logs :[ its alot of effort to not know what we are in for yet(Could fail and loose alot of hours for not knowing a simple recipe), i dont have the willpower left to keep grinding at those drop rates for various reasons and will just let others work it out, but i think everyone has the same idea at the moment lol

Greatful for the update and new access of course, i understand its a basic base to build from, just trying to give some numbers of how long it takes, most of us expected something more simple/easy to get items to use until we can gather souls ect to get the endgame rings

Also wastes alot of % trying for materials which is why i went on my alt i dont care about too much, doing 2 hours of fire worms probaly gave me 10% of close to no stats :s

iSylver, feedback =/ moaning.

I'm stating the sheer quantity of LIMITED materials that are required to craft.

Nowhere do I state that the crafting system is finished nor polished, infact it's still in its infancy and this is the perfect time to be picking up on what needs ironing out.

To conclude my initial post, seeing as you took it as just a moan, i'll clarify.

There are not enough materials on the whole of Dsoma to necessitate even ONE crafter to craft to an adequate skill. The demand FAR outstrips the supply. Materials are hellishly expensive and the materials required for crafting are too rare to sustain a crafting economy, which is the idea of implementing this system... No?

I don't see how anyone will be surpassing 40skill as there simply aren't enough Sgems on the server to support even ONE player to get there.

Mats won't be easy on DSoma, just as not everyone will be able to craft.

We will be developing the crafting system in the future, but for now it'll stay as it is. Have you even discovered a second recipe?

I think we just need easier ways to get the very BASIC mats (black metal etc.). Too early to tell if the drop rates for fire metal, kharil wood etc. are low.

Low level mobs do drop plenty of the basic mats, but it still isn't enough and a level 70+ shouldn't be forced to farm Inguits for mats!

Just my thoughts :)

I've already made steps to assist this in the next reboot. I.e Special gems sell arguably quite cheaply in the pos shop as well as a tweak to drazil druids to assist hunting them.

I think s0rc found out how to craft the 10 hp shop neklace thats it so far other than the basic ring, if all the new items require mats from mobs it will take a very long just for 1 attempt at finding the recipe and if its wrong its a waste of alot of hours, even if its right it can still fail and be wasted and still not know wether u found the recipe, seems a long process to find out, just need to find a person that can find the patience to try and get extremely lucky

Maybe we can get a little more info please, such as do we need new materials to make every new access?

not about to waste exp on hunting low level mobs for SG so the only alternative is second chars and im not going to lvl a second char when iv got my human levelling up

Don't have enough money to buy SG due to Dazil Druid not droping enough and make a lose each hunt and GVW/Wotw costing so much

GS exp is low and since there drop reduction they don't drop anywhere near enough taged stuff to bypass the slowdowns

so all in all, SG don't drop for what I hunt and cant afford to buy them so im on 0 skill, So will still be on my human

don't take this as a complete moan, its a good update and very thankful, just a little let down due to above

That sounds good, gives me a use for my POS since 5th Knuckle isn't worth it *hint hint, wink wink*. ;)

With the hints we currently have been given i worked it out, that there is 54 different combinations to create the ring, which at the cost of 49( more because we dont knwo the exact amount of each mat, just the total of 49 combined) special gems per craft would take 2646 special gems just to attempt each combination once, but u would need to try each a couple times because of fails so at the moment its still fairly out of the question, if we could get the name of 1 more material? maybe the stone required then i think we have a fairly good chance of guessing it.

For people wondering we got told the ring takes 11 black metal plates, leather, wood, stones, didnt get told the amounts other than the plates and that all together they add upto 49 mats

Edit: just found out that yellow/blue gems and green/yellow stones cannot be put into the craft table so it narrows the combinations down abit but still costly, so its definatly either spirit or devil stone
