Idea for Weaken (Hsoma)

Bit of a unorthodox suggestion here, make the human world spell Weaken also take 25/50% extra melee damage. Obviously only to effect players as implementing it late on would be unfair on anyone thats invested a lot of time into melee.

This could potentially:

Give melee based 'mid levels' something to do in gvw other than spam slow/blind etc

Restore the mage/warrior balance on this server.

Give more humans the option to melee in wotw.

Give melee weapons more relevance in world pvp.

Force top end mages to invest more in evasion instead of just wearing their Medusa pants, hero top/helm, warp neck, easily-obtained upgraded MA gear etc

Make top end M-tag weapons more valuable for weaken+4th aura combos. (Couldn't you upgrade weapons to M-tag on esoma?)


If your thinking "wtf I already take too much damage from player X" it's probably because hes 20-30 str ahead of you an you damn well deserve to be taking a beating.

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but with the existence of serums and how easy it is to remove status spells with cure, no change, however dramatic to a status spell, will ever really impact pvp.

Until serums get a real good looking into (i.e. giving them a cooldown) or nerfing the hell out of cure, ideas like yours, however great it sounds - will not have any impact, as long as serums/cure exist in their current state.

Despite my pessimistic tone, I do like the idea, but had to mention the futility of it, even if it were implemented.

Sooner see first buffed. Hitting at speed a uninterrupted with 125-150% damage is for the most part - thick. IMO anyway.

Refer to S0rc's post, is it not also thick to take 200% damage from a unmissable high int mage? You'll use waters or cure yourself.

For whatever reason half of my post is missing when posting from phone. I think the idea is good to improve melee but would rather see it in an aura format to introduce cool downs and prevent spamming etc. ie buff first aura to say 125% which would prevent 4th/5th getting the additional attack. With a first buff it couldn't be shaken off with water and cure etc. and thick comment was with going as high as 150% if you are including auras etc as a I think the pendulum would swing too far in favour of str

I genuinely don't think an additional 25-50% melee damage is that game breaking. As opposed to an additional 100% magic damage.

I went with 25-50% with the big hitting auras in mind, playing Acaelus I very much doubt it would make the difference to be able to 1-shot someone over 95 str with a 5th aura. Maybe S0rc can do some numbers for me :P
