Honestly thought this was going to be a "nerf mages" post, but turns out I'm wrong. Clearly you haven't played dsoma ever, mages as far as Pvp goes are op, but a dead class in gvw. All you do is lvl up, max int and dex, get some proc gear, carry 200 g birds, cast and feather around, dmg is too high without any decent gear, and defence is too high for a class that is meant to be a glass cannon.

Like Merlin said if 4th staff was invisible this would help alot as atm soon as you cast 4th people will just run untill the aura has worn off. (making it useless)
Im the same and dont have any experience playing a high lvl human so i don't know what its like , but i cant see why they should not have 4th staff aswell. As dsoma mages we do deal alot of dmg (if we get weak/proc off) but we can't take any so i suppose this makes up for that. It would be nice to see some of the other spells get used maybe make 1 of them cast alot further & faster but less dmg.

"MERLIN"I don't know hsoma much as have never really played a top level mage with high str, Mages seem to struggle abit more on Dsoma as its harder to get proc gear I think, removing interrupted casting would make mages way to OP, cross race helps Dsoma alot now with the new procs and the damage on them... Hsoma accuracy / attack gear is just as hard to get as DB proc and lots of people have +5 sets of this... Imagine a mage with 60% DB proc set, someone weakens for you while you have a 60% chance of one shotting every other class ingame (if mage damage is similar to that of mage vs melle on Hsoma) Weaken / explosion/ DB can be precast, or even teamed up with an axer stone (would allow you to land 4? Weakened shots on target with 60% chance per to oneshot someone) Mages seem more of a team effort class and can't do much solo due to not being able to cast often enough/having weaken removed before they can cast next spell but the damage they deal played alongside others is more than enough to make up for it

Yes mage definitely takes a certain amount of patience and skill compared to other chars, mainly knowing when to get out of the way before archers start getting shots off
Mages imo got a big damage boost this patch, the strength of dragon breath proc if you got a decent set is crazy good (much easier hsoma side as dsoma rubies are crazy expensive) [side issue but with the tablet form being cross race I think you will find a lot more x-world trading, or people with the right connections to high level hsoma benefitting a lot more] and all the other procs are stronger than the old style too
Their damage taken hasnt improved any other than the rise in hp through levels gained. I still get 4 hit by an archer (possibly 3 hit in the right pod gear)
Equally so I can drop people in 2 hits IF I proc which is nocertainty, more true to the form of glass cannon which I dont mind other than the fact dsoma doesnt really have big numbers at the minute and mages are targetted straight up due to their damage output (***again as stated if a feather removed all click locks on you this would be a vast improvement***)
I do think being able to increase cast speed by upping staff would be interesting, as it stands i can be 90% through a cast and the first shot of any mellee wep stops it because its instant
Myself and psychotix were both level119 a few weeks ago and were stopped by 2 level 110 archers because they just ran when we cast 4th aura (again making this invisible to other chars could be a vast improvement) and when targetted by 2 archers of they time a 4th its guaranteed death so we couldnt stand and fight as we dont survive long enough due to the dps of archer
Maybe buffing all the other mellee classes again would stop everyone rolling archers and could make a change too (dsoma side as the other mellee classes are fast becoming extinct)
**edit I will try dig out a video of myself vs slayer in arena or make a new one if I cant, it shows while 4th is up we are relatively equal, I do more damage per hit WHEN I proc but he hits consistently at a much faster rate, removing interrupted casting wouldn't make mage any more OP than what archer currently is (maybe remove weaken proc)[/quote]

I dont think you will ever see a +5 db set in dsoma until someone with a capped human comes along to provide the rubies which shouldn't be needed
The weaken thing requires a second mage but the issue I have wit that is you introduce 2 mellee chars of any class into a mage and it's also instant death so i dont believe that's an argument My first two changes to TRIAL I dont believe are game breaking and they are: 1. Make 4th staff invisible to others (and introduce to hsoma) 2. Make feathering breaks all clicks locks, attacking and defending I'm not disputing a mage is a glass canon and it should be, but it's full glass half canon without being able to cast

I don't think mage is underpowered, rather I think the problem is with archer/bow being overpowered.
So I'm going to make a suggestion that will probably be very unpopular: Make it so bow hits only have 50% chance of interrupting casts. Melee hits from all other weapons will still interrupt 100% like normal.

"JARAGOONDOO"I don't think mage is underpowered, rather I think the problem is with archer/bow being overpowered. That's a good idea. As long as 4th is still guaranteed as normal. In all honesty that's one of the best solutions I've heard. Percentage might need tweeking, but other than that it solves it from multiple angles.

I think 50% would be too low but yes it's a solid idea, I was thinking something along the same lines of hitrate on mages being capped at a dif %
All auras should always be guaranteed hit though |

I agree, bow completely nullifies a mage but other classes get picked apart by mages.

"ISYLVER"Latest patch removed click lock on target that g birds - enjoy. When I cast and feather it cancels my cast. But only I seem to be having this problem, tested it with Rocky and he could cast and feather and the spell would work. |
