Virgin media am on 120mb connection
Sky am being told I can get 40mb-60mb

So I did a little speed test and I'm on Wi-Fi

Virgin sacrifices upload for greater download speeds. I've switched between Virgin and BT (or any other landline provider) multiple times and I tend to find it depends on the area. I moved from a home where I had terrible service with Virgin and was living the good life on BT. Now, in my new home, I've just switched back to Virgin again because BT kept going down multiple times a week and for the last 6 months my Virgin hasn't disconnected.

WiFi is not a great test for max download/upload speed as its limited.

I have 200mb Virgin and I get ~230mb download and 12mb upload.

ye I didn't expect to get full spd wilst im on wifi, just the loss on virgin wilst on wifi compaired, if I do connect by cable then I can get just over the 120, not tried the spd I get with sky over cable yet

also to note, the sky box is upstairs wilst I was downstairs when I did the test, and the virgin box is in the same room

also note, I was on all last night and didn't dc once, however when I first loged in and forgot to change wifi over to sky I dced almost straight away, not so bothered about the top speed anymore, just the reliability, and was getting disconnected a lot with virgin (both soma and Netflix)

edit, just done a spd test wired, virgin got 110mb download and still caped at 6mb upload, sky got 50mb download and 10.1mb upload

Virgin have been accused of some pretty shady stuff when it comes to gaming bandwidth etc. Not that soma uses alot but alot of people go through a vpn to prevent them throttling etc.

Worked for both Sky and Virgin in the past and it pains me to see the DL speeds you're getting, even with Sky. Can't even get fibre where I live. Virgin can do some crazy traffic management on their lines as they don't provide a guaranteed minimum speed.
