More regular XP / Drop events keep players engaged, makes new and old players arrive in the server, and makes the community thrive. These occurring spontaneously will keep players on their toes, as well as having expected holiday based events, as oppose of having a gap of 4 months between them.
Things like wipes or a new server entirely isn't necessary. You'll enjoy your play more if you just have the aforementioned in place.
