Season based server.

As the majority of players would whinge at a wipe and a restart, this would probably be better off as a separate server. My idea around this is based on the fact that I don’t believe the way Soma was made works for a long term server..

Basically the idea would be a seasonal server, ran at higher rates than currently in game, along side the level 120 cap. This would need to be quick enough for the basic player to reach cap by the end of a deadline and ‘endgame’

Each season would run for a specific time (say 2/3 months) and would have certain achievements (anyone that’s played Diablo 3 would be aware of how this could work) replace the quests with ‘seasonal journey’ goals (Example being, reach 200 crafting skill/kill negamare 100 times etc) let people run havoc for the allotted time then bam, all characters reset to level 1, base stats, no items and the journey begins again.

Why do this? Why start again? A reward could be implemented dependant on level/‘seasonal journey’ goals completed. A proper leaderboard for pk kills, wotw kills, richest player, highest gear score etc and the best in those said tiers entered into ‘hall of fame’ for each season, for each weapon/class. Each season wouldn’t feel like a reset, you’d have some sort of reward from the previous season and could try a different build, levelling path, all sorts.. season 1 you concentrated on crafting, season 2 you might go pure bow and concentrate on gvw wins, season 3? You go mage for the pk leaderboard, season 4? You spec like China currently and concentrate on boss kills.

I believe this would add a mix up to Soma that’s never been done before, it would deter the need for level cap raises to a game that simply isn’t made to go further than what it was intended and time and effort from the GMs could be implemented in actual armour sets/weapons/bosses/maps/dungeons and themes for each season. This would completely reinvent the whole ‘I need to heal to 100 int’ or the need for ‘myth of archers’ as there will be recongnition for different weapon types people would level how they want to level and no one would be doing the old ‘ah man, got to level 120 now I’m gonna reroll for better stats, let’s go hit DF aimlessly for 78 hours’

The diversity this would bring would breath life into a game we all love.. keep the other server, that’s no problem but I believe giving people things to aim for, whilst eliminating the need to constant level cap raises and feeding people’s Somaego with various leaderboards would be what would bring a larger audience back to the game..

Ive been discussing this idea for the last 6 months with multiple players and everyone ive spoke to has said it would be amazing,

The current playtime of most players now is not high, people cant afford to play 10 hours a day for stats/drops etc, Thats why the majority rather quit after it gets tough or resort to pilots/buying items..... the illegal routes.

A seasonly 4-6monthly server is what i would suggest at around 25-50x rates/drops, basicaly it would take you at these rates i would imagine around 2 months for the casual player to cap. You then would have 2 months to gear yourself, the last 2 months would be all out pvp or farming/watever u wanted.

The economy would thrive, People would be trading like mad as everything is fresh,
The server donations would increase as people would be buying to rested pots to get high lvl fast etc etc.

Dan has always said he will NEVER wipe the server which i agree he shouldnt,

But how about a 2nd server ran on the side of this? Myself and alot of others would happily donate to the purchasing of the 2nd server, It would cost the GMS nothing, They wouldnt even need to invest time in the server as everything is done that needs to be done.

Just imagine the usercount. i would imagine it would be 200 active daily,

I would love to get everyone on discord including gms and have a big meeting regarding the server cos as we know we are a small community, why not as a community come together to discuss the future of soma..

Splitting the UC over 2 servers would be terrible, personally I’d have zero interest investing any time into something that’ll disappear in 3 months. -1.

The idea would be that it wouldn’t disappear in a few months, the next season would start with a reward based on how well you did on the previous season.

With leaderboards and actual rankings, it would entice people to play a style they enjoy playing, instead of you must bow until x dex and then you must do this and that.
