This is from a DSoma point of view, so it may not be relevent to HSoma, although I would still like to hear the opinions of Human players.
Currently, I have a stash full of female armours (Hardened, Rare etc) that I cannot do anything with except vendor them. The ratio of female to male characters (in DSoma) appears to be 1:9 (purely anecdotal, but I assume it's not far off the truth) so there is literally no demand for those items I have. If the ratio was 1:1, or even 1:2 then it would not be as huge of an issue, as there would be a much higher demand for those items. Here is what I propose: - Make ALL dropped armours unisex, allowing male and female characters to wear them - Reduce the drop rate of ALL armours to compensate for the fact there will be a lot more viable armour to wear The benefits of this proposition would be increased trade (resulting in a better economy) and it would reduce the "waste of space" items in this game. Thanks for reading. /Discuss

No another update that would make the game easier, The server is good because its like esoma. This is How it should be played.

Although I do see your point, you are completely wrong in your assumption. My proposition isn't to make the game easier (that's why I suggested reduced drop rates), but it is to make the game fair. For example, I could easily go out and roll a female character right now if I wanted to. What does this mean? I have access to a much larger amount female-only goods for trade since there are equal amounts of male and female goods supplied. Due to the vast amount of supply I can also get it for a real cheap price compared to male counter-parts. So, in essence, by rolling a female character, I have made the game EASIER.

I don't like the idea of unisex armors. I'd rather see an npc that switches armor for a fee.

"GHOSTLORD"I don't like the idea of unisex armors. I'd rather see an npc that switches armor for a fee. That would be a perfectly viable solution as well. I was just thinking in terms of what sounds easier to implement. |

"JARAGOONDOO""SHATTERSTAR" How is it unfairly easier? Is rolling a axe user making the game easier because everyone went sword and axes dropped a lot and readily available? You have no logic in your argument regarding chosing a sex and making the game easier. To even state that is ridicously, drops are random, getting gear should be a challenge. Making changes willy nilly because you cant get you want after a days hunting is silly. Equally, I bet your houses the male/female ratio on hsoma is fairly close. Please don't take this is a personal rant at you, I just like to get my point across. I see lots of ideas good and bad around the forum and personally I think this is a bad one.

"SHATTERSTAR""JARAGOONDOO""SHATTERSTAR" No, don't worry, I'm glad you got your point across. If you look closely, I never said anything about getting gear myself. I'm talking about all the useless female armour that I have (I may as well just drop them all by the WH) because the female to male ratio is so low. Also, I did say say in my OP that I had no idea of the condition in HSoma, so my suggestion may not be relevant there. Furthermore, comparing the gender of the character (something that should have NO impact on the game) to the class you have chosen is a bit silly. Every class has its own set of advantages and disadvantages, that's the whole point of a class system (otherwise everyone would be the same), but should your choice on gender really have such a big impact? It maybe just the fact that I have been playing modern MMOs too much, but I honestly think gender specific armours hurts the game more than it helps. I know, for sure, that any new players joining the game will be very frustrated with the current system in place. Lastly, did you read my original post? I also suggested to reduce the drop rates of all armours if the unisex change was made (I think somewhere between 33% - 50% of what it is currently would be fine), so that would not decrease the challenge of getting the gear you want, it would probably make it much harder, in fact (Computer-based RNG is a bitch). My suggestion is to make all drops useful and to have equal value.

Point, taken.
With regard to hsoma, the only way I managed to break even was selling armor that dropped at scale raps because the barr dropped is so low. I could hunt something else and not pot as much I suppose, but you go with what you know and thats how I have always levelled a str char. I guess changing one thing will impact the other, therefore, it will be swings and roundabouts.

"SHATTERSTAR"Point, taken. Hmm... Yes. It never crossed my mind people selling junk armour to make barr. That's why Ghostlord's suggestion is probably better; I think the fee would have to be quite massive, though (probably 50 to 100 times the item's vendor value, at least). From a programming standpoint, Ghostlord's suggestion sounds like a pain to implement properly (it could even introduce duping bugs if we're not careful), whereas my suggestion sounds more tedious than difficult.

"JARAGOONDOO" It seems quite straight forward actually. All armors listed could be stocked with the price being the opposite gender's item + currency amount, then you'd have to sell your female piece for a male piece. Would be more interesting to make it a crafting skill rather than a vendor.

"GREATERIX""JARAGOONDOO" Well, yes, you could do that for all standard pieces but what about random rolled tagged armour? That's the where the difficulty lies.

"JARAGOONDOO" I imagine the tag is just a variable that can take values. 0 - normal 1 - hardened 2 - rare 3 - epic wouldn't be too hard to put in a check to exchange the tag if that's the case :P This is all guesswork from a logical coding perspective - it's all relative to how the tags/items are referenced & stored in the actual code which I haven't any experience with.
