Hello everyone.
So we've been having separate discussions recently about the low pop... generally low morale (at times even from ourselves) and came to the conclusion that there was two real options. 1) We close the server completely, we're happy to host majority of the server files to encourage another server to take its place but not "our" secure client. 2) A complete rethink of the game, cater for nostalgia as we have always done, as well as keep it heavily PVP weighted and gear focused. We decided to go with Option 2. To do this we'll be looking for a community team, we'd also want to plan ahead and start the server over (fresh characters and items) and fix up ahead some of the core community issues 1) +50 stat track makes a lot of the game null and avoid, we'll remove it and keep a +10 stack so people can voluntarily work harder for a slight 'advantage' but won't be encouraged to miss 'good old' parts of the game.. 2) We'll properly deal with the dominance of bow whilst making knuckle more viable in PVP. We'll add in a cool down on feathers and look at ways of making every weapon class more flexible and have a 'place' in PVP. 3) We'll cap recoils proportionately off base weapon speed. (500 recoil bows will be a thing of the past, as will 300 recoil or faster knuckles). 4) We'll add in a extra weapon stat so people can more freely choose which weapon skill to drop. 5) Devil Soma will be completely reworked, the whole 'salvage to craft' system will be reformulated and made useful right up until higher levels. Crafting will stay. 6) Devil Soma will receiver 2 extra armor sets to 'fit' between other gaps and allowing Invulnerability armor to have higher requirements, making the game 'last longer'. We'll also be adding in 2 extra weapons per weapon class and spreading out those requirements further too. Too often players get to level 60 having near on everything they need stat wise and item wise for end game gear (affording it being another matter). That should never have happened. 7) The craft system will remain somewhat punishable but less 'gravely' to the point ruining someones hunting then on. (Solutions to be discussed, series of polls, like Brexit). 8) We'll publish monthly paypal donation targets.. Once a target is reached, we'll commit to a fixed timed event for everyone as well encourage us to develop the game further and or outsource the development of e.g armor / weapon templates (aka Chojines efforts) and regard then proportionately to that donation target 'as a gift', which they won't own or hold interest in the IP of such creativity. 9)We will specifically 'class' certain bosses as community bosses and attempt to make them more of a free for all, than a last hit so more people attend more of those types with the eventual goal of making a item automatically go into your inventory than being on the floor in some circumstances. 10) For Devil Soma, we want to create a real 'Cantina Band' style mini town full of gambling NPCs and other bad dudes, just to give it that edge and special place for something Hsoma doesn't have. We may well make it in the path of untankable roaming mobs to keep you on your toes. Maybe a town with a 'street' running through it'. 11) We'll make the advantage of owning the Guild Village more beneficial for all members rather than just a select few. 12) Continental Castle map, the benefits of it, the war, will be completely rehashed and made more about 'strategic' attacks and 'defences'. The mobs outside of the castle will be recycled and the southern part of the main path will be coloured blue and northern path area coloured red and make those areas of importance as a hunting ground. E.g More the zone is hunted by a race, the acclumation of 'Luck' for drops increases (in the 0.X% range). 13) We'll be investigating into the comics and any storylines of Soma and look to build a dialogue into the game and the depths of the 'worlds problems' e.g Gorshak, Negamare, Hartman and build a storyline. 14) We'll make the party system actually worth using for hunting. E.g 30 minutes of 2+ people hunting together 5% regen bonus, and other minor things that encourages team play and not just about the grind for charisma. 15) We'll make the guild village war and war of the worlds vary on a monthly basis so that they are not constantly the same. We'll move objects in way of the stone so it requires creative playing, perhaps multiple doors to the room. Likewise modify the castle structure. and 'hem' people in more so fighting is more regular, more in your race and about 'rallying together' through the walls. 16) We'll add in a quarterly art competition or picture of the month features on our news page, probably 'best gank' or 'best troll' along other less evil themes. 17) Fix the mage broken mob progression in Devil Soma and other glaringly obvious class problems in the red world, mostly found in Pandemonium and Hwan. 18) Make Trolls, Raptors, Sand Crawlers not so heavy on XP versus Stat XP so people can funnel back to them to hunt like old times. 19) Both worlds to receive 'low level' upgrade fun for all classes and not just in the shape of ToLEs but re-circulation of Devil Pills etc. 20) People who donate will be posted on the 'rolling' news feed, £ will be omitted for their own privacy. We'll be transparant to how much is raised monthly and openly admit that most donations will be used for server maintenance / connection / our time but also for improving the game and advertising where appropiate but remind you that donations are donations, not payment for services of any kind. We want people to be remembered for contributing to the longevity of a game we all love. And will consider a 'heroes of Soma' board for most donations received (not by value), with maybe incentives given for doing so. 21) Really ham up a 'Undead' village in Thousand Year town and make it a zone of its own, and a equivalent in Devil Soma. Sick of seeing people trying to justify why the GM's are virtually non existent in the game (even to deliver stuff that has been paid for) If they aint got time due to work/family commitments or whatever, don't do the job, don't do a disservice to the community (regardless of how small it is) Give it to someone who will put in the time needed and someone who has the know how to run the server and make changes for the better......therein lies the problem I guess.
Fair play Foxtrick, cant knock your enthusiasm but a lot of your ideas are just painting over the cracks. Bottom line is that the game is way too much gear based.....cap in less than a year and spend another 3 years trying to make good gear is the reality. No need to take the +50 stat route if you can get good gear If u cant get hand me downs and go the + 50 route you are still fucked. Farming for years to make good gear is insane! absolutely crazy! only for people that have a seriously high boredom threshold or have some mental health issues Also you talk about things like making enhancements to the donation system....a hall of fame etc....how does that enhance a players daily game play? You say not the amount of donation but number of donations would move a person up the league of look at me''s . That's so poorly thought out, all a player needs to do is instead of making a £100 purchase, make 20 at £5 each. Instead of thinking up shit like that, try and think of something that will make the game better, particularly end game, cuz soma is dead right now. Had a chuckle at Ravensouls post, but would it be so bad? wipe server, return to esoma rates. That would sort the men out from the boys for sure, and would solve the problem of soma being a gear based game

Who can do events Delivery of donations Answer general questions But cant... Created/edit files/items Bans Would be great to see something like this Then dan and fin can focus on the actual development which they are amazing at. This way people would donate more as they can get things day to day and more players online as am sure raven would do some awesome events Fox has some great ideas but does not understand pvp imo but can for sure gather ideas from players even weekly discord meetings etc and then feedback to dan to filter out the crap
