New Server Idea

Had an idea to freshen up soma ino some people won't like it but I think it may bring old players back to the game.

The idea is to have an additional server along side the current server. That has increased rates ie x3-5 that has yearly resets ie server wipe.

Tbh the best times ive ever had on soma was in beta and on the beginning of new private servers when you all on same starting point it much more fun to play.

The way things currently are is very off puttin to new players (old esoma players) knowin theys already lvl 120 players in the game and its going to take you at least a year for the average player to catch up..most just won't bother playing.

If they was a server that ran from say Jan 1st-Dec 31st every year least people might be more inclined to play. I think January makes sense if did have resets as people don't wanna be going hard at xmas then u can just have events at xmas, increased exp/drops etc as won't matter knowing server near reset but players could try out builds etc.

I think alot of the problems with the game could be ironed out with yearly resets too. Like dsoma melee dmg could actually lower the weapon atts while at the mo you can't as players already have the higher att weapons. Just think pvp would have much better chance of been balanced if gm's know they have an opportunity once a year to make some changes that they currently couldn't do.

Its been 6 years since the server had been up and the gms have done an amazing job but where can this server really go from this point on? Just increasing lvl caps to keep game fresh leaves too more balance problems and makes it even more off puttin to new players.

Also Devil Stat System could be looked at as it seems not very popular I personally think it was better when u had same stat gains at 50str+ like humans but just remove punchin gains from the game. Add increased wis gains to melee classes from using there weapons and same with devil mage's con.

Just an idea tbh id pay monthly towards the server just to give it a go..cos i feel it would do well and bring more players back to the game.

I feel like a more casual version of the game would be more appealing to the majority of people that can't sink in tons of time in to the game. Even this version of soma faster than esoma is still a bigger grind than literally any other modern mmo's.

You could even have hall of fame type page remembering the best guild human and devil, Best players..pos, kills etc on the website so least they are remembered as the best of 2020, 2021 etc

I hosted a couple servers back in the day so I know it would be possible without that much effort. Obviously it would still need alot work in the beginning.

nice. xfer the chrs and all items to the main server at the end of the year before a new one starts would be nice too

Honestly don't feel there is enough playerbase for this, You would have those people who can afford to spend the time on this "Ranked server" And the main server would have all the casuals playing splitting up the already small community.

I think ideally to improve the game there DOES need to be a better end-game.

I do enjoy beginnings of soma servers when everyone's competing, so a wipe wouldn't bother me, as for better endgame tho I'm struggling what can be done within the confines of soma

Like I love upgrades to drop more, problem comes if there easyer for me then someone playing hardcore would be over run with upgrades so I'd still never keep up

If it was easier to cap out then you wouldnt be behind for as long, sure people could still cap chars faster but right now what % of the player base is even lvl 120 after the cap was raised when over a year ago? I bet it is about 10% imagine if wow brought out a new expansion and after a year only 10% of the players were capped out? The game would be dead too..

Maybe theres not enough players for 2 servers right now but if you knew they was like annual server coming in 3 months alot of people that use to play the game might come back I imagine alot of current would move across people might say then it ruins the current server i say it says more about what they prefer to play.

Do you want an endless grind were u can only pvp above lvl 110, or would you prefer it be more chill to get to endgame so you can get involved in pvp, race vs race earlier on?

Theres wars every day but no doubt they have less than a 50% turnout due to people not going cos it no fun if your gonna be 1 shot for the next 6 months.

same i prefer when im not 3 years behind lol..its also cool when everyone is in banded armour hah. Or when you see the first player in gold armour for first time :)

Upgrades should be really saved for the endgame imo wouldnt care if they had crap drop rates up until like magma beasts but then least have a decent drop rate at the lvl cap mobs.

i think xfering items would be bad but been able to keep the same name would be benefit to stop people stealin names

Rather than seasonal to keep resetting the game so that everybody is competing from the same starting point why not just radically change the rates so that it is essentially trivially easy to cap or at least get to 10 levels from cap.

Get rid of +50, heal to 100 int and massive con grind and then spread the types of drops very diversely between mobs so all skins and areas are active and used then change the focus to farming and PvP where kills give you pos that you can buy PvP gear etc with.

The thing that prevents the server count going up is obviously the huge barrier to access - why not just remove it?

I would definitely log daily if there were loads of guilds roughly evenly geared all brawling it out in epic PvP battles.
