Sour truth is that GMs don't particularly care re:bots in my experience.

I remember first joining years ago and everybody was absolutely botted off their tits doing con on brics.

I reported to Ghostlord (terrible mistake) and just got a reply saying 'absolutely NO evidence of this'.

Couple of years later when I rejoin it is widely acknowledged the widespread nature of botting 'in the past'.

Call it 'negativity' if you like but just another reason new players won't ever bother with the game.

Watching it take place in-game currently. It's actually pretty good, I didn't know the bots were capable of those type tasks.

It could be that the player isn't clear about the legality of bots as there was some confusion recently concerning their usage. A quote from ISYLVER saying that players could use them provided the bot didn't do anything a human couldn't and that the player was at their computer.
Some have claimed that is apparently not the case now since that quote, however I unfortunately cannot link any official word on the matter since the aforementioned quote.

As you said "at your keyboard" He blatantly is not at his keyboard. I partied him when he was collecting mats and its currently knocked his bot off and left a noob char partied him so he isn't moving. Freeing up mats for the people of abias;p

I was also partying a char in the guild “restart” this morning while he was doing trips to and from the anvil.

I think if bots are ingame and being used by people then surely these should be available to everyone. If people get caught using them AFK and it’s proven via video etc then yeah give them a little ban and repeat offenders get perma.

But if you’re sat watching a film or anything else while sat at your desk or laptop next to you I don’t see the issues

The actual problem is people having the advantage over others who don’t have the technology to compete.

For 6 years the GM's have kept this game as clean as they have, anyone caught cheating have been dealt with. This must continue to keep Soma running, because if the rules on cheating change at all then it's a slippery slope to chaos has what happened to esoma.

If cheating is now allowed i.e. Botting, then surely every player previously banned should have there bans removed and be allowed back?

If you have to resort to cheating to play any games then honestly games aren't for you.

It’s not cheating if it’s been allowed by a GM.

I personally don’t have the computing capacity to use a bot and have managed to craft 5-6 SR chars so for me I don’t need to craft any more. I’m thinking more for the players who find crafting to SR that painful it stops them playing the game. If they were to stick around then we would all benefit.

I do say that if they are used AFK then sure punish them.

You can't sugar coat cheating no matter how you word it.

Cheating is Cheating.

Under no circumstance do i want a bot, if it became legal as long as you're at keyboard i'd leave the game instantly it would 1.be abused 2.ruin all interaction among players.

I'll mind my own business and get on with my adventure in Soma, i don't care about multis (their choice), I don't care about foul language/insults etc but botting takes the p everyone will just be afk 90% of the time and play wars.

How can botting be fine at or away from a keyboard its giving an unfair advantage to others. What about people who want to play soma legit to earn our stats on our own not beg steal or buy them or bot them while we knit lol?
I totally agree with Ravensouls last post, before you all jump on me saying well I have s job I have kids I have this I have that to do we are all in the same boat.
Think back why we play/played somawas it to set a bot up and go spend time doing something else? NO
It's a shame that soma has come to this. I dont have the computer knowledge to run two clients let alone a bot, however would I want to soma for me isnt about that.

I was only thinking about the possible impact it could have on the UC. But from the amount of people against it then yeah it would probably do more harm than good!

I personally have no gripe with users using a bot for crafting.
While I have done it all manually myself with 4 SR's across 2 characters, it is a system which could do with a user-friendly boost. Granted, it is an improved system over ESoma, though I wish there were some kind of 'hold' features, for both producing (yes I know about tabbing) and for selling items in your bag (new players rely on selling each full inventory of crafted items) without the need for excessive clicking.

As an older gentleman, anything which could help reduce RSI I'm all in favour for. Grabbing materials from the restock NPC's in Abias while other players are actively waiting, however - no, that's a bit much lol
