I don't think capping faster is the answer, but I do think shuffling drop files and making mobs drop stuff relevant to you when you hunt them is a good idea. The reason why shanis are so boring as an example isn't due to hunting them for ages, it's the bad drop files and drop rates.
I imagine NM are a lot better now to hunt with the new drop file.

There's a lot of ways you can reply to this post and I think a lot are saying no don't do it but at the same time it comes down to one thing really.
If the GM's don't have time / inclination / knowledge, just do whatever they do have time to do, if that's a level increase - do it. I personally don't see them revisiting loot files, stat routes or looking into wider balance issues. I would love them too as a lot of people seem too but hey, there's a reason I think it wasn't done a year ago, or 3 years ago. Maybe its something they would only do if they did a character wipe? Just enjoy what you have for now.

"ROMELIS"i returned to soma in around march/april/ atm lvl 90 i like the pace it is going. so no, i dont want to cap in a month. If you enjoy the grind more power to you but this perspective isn’t really coherent to my mind since under my proposal you’d still functionally be doing the same thing (farming mobs for items even at cap) except you’d have much more diversity in skins and drops plus you’d be able to compete in PvP effectively when it suited you. Would also have a much higher UC imo and less incentive to bot/multi thus bringing back the essential social aspect that the game is really all about as opposed to a solo RPG. "FOXTRCK" You’re likely right here Fox i’m only making suggestions for hypothetical improvements that could boost the UC and improve player experience. None of it is to say that GMs are doing a bad job - Soma would be dead without this server as we all know but UC will never go above 100 real individual players and no more than 50 of them them will log on outside upped rate events under the current regime imo.

imo the levelling rates are just about right, maybe with a new cap + the lower levs could be speeded up.. but ya have to bear in mind.. less mobs killed = getting to high level with less drops and hence less gear.
Only other problem is some players..many with dubious past behaviours that monopolise the bosses and are getting all the tasty shit with their mega gear. And no.. i aint competing for bosses with ppl that have dubiously aquired gear. Would be nice to see some of the wealth spread around for the benefits of all players that come and hunt and play every day. There's plenty of ppl still here in that category. Soma seems pretty well balanced atm. The gm's are maintaining the game well, and ofc a bit moar would always be welcome.

Maybe I'm just missing some part of the appeal of the game that others are legitimately experiencing but I honestly can't work out the difference between farming for drops v farming for levels and drops at the same time.
Esp if whilst you're just farming for drops you can more easily take part in the PvP aspects of the game, don't regress (due to +1 with 0 stat gain at anvil rather than breakages) but still have an impetus to farm to make better gear i.e a genuine +8 vs a +8 that only had +3 stats. Not only that but you're hunting more diverse paths of mobs since could utilize all skins/areas/weps better. Would also fix the dubious behavior advantage to a large degree plus you could even make certain bosses a PvP based thing - guild holds stone/stones on a map at time x gets a boss spawn in a neg type cave where only that guild can warp in or something. I guess it comes down to whether you enjoy the game just for the nostalgia/chill & grind or whether you begrudgingly cope with the grind with the aspiration to maybe at some point be able to sort-of take part in PvP battles but personally I think my vision, if it were implementable, would have more widespread appeal.

A hitman game would be fun, we do it in work, each person gets someones name, and they have to hunt them down and tag them to get that persons hit targets name, all whilst not knowing who has your name lol.
Don't know if it could be implemented, but maybe a type /xxxx to join, get given a random players name who is also joined to the event. You could even make it so you get penalised for killing someone who isn't on your list. Would turn soma into a great big game of pk tag haha! Fallout 76 also implemented something similar to good effect, you tune into a radio station to enter the pk event and then have to hunt a specific player down.

Or maybe a game where you join, and a guard shout says xxxx has become wanted, you then show up on everyone’s map and each minute you last you get 50 pos, if someone slays you they get a portion of the accrued pos.

This is such a great idea. Those who want to participate only can enter. Love it. At the moment we have London gangsters in Mandemz(Stormzies as I think of them) and VK wherever they are sharing chars and only logging on to stop others playing and making them not wanting to play by hunting in packs and shouting gangster 5 year old childish things over over global after a 5/6 v 1 kill which is their only goal which reduces the user count. Others have grown up and cba with this. Even with the 2 kills they just cba. These 5/6 v 1 kills then steal your mobs for a while and don't just run off happy with their 2 kills either, which is the main thing. They get 2 kills in mass capped numbers then global big 'cos they need attention and are sad as fuk irl. It's not the 2 kill take it and move on....It's the kills, then the abuse, then the global bragging from 5/6 capped v a 106/110 w/e then steal your mobs 5/10 mins then abuse you there after 'cos they can't kill u for 30 mins. It's not just the take the 2 kills and all is fine, it's the abuse right after especially from all Mandemz chars. VK don't do that the same.2 kills/abuse/mob steals 'cos they know nothing will ever be done about this even if you video and send in. This is what reduces the u/c and why people leave. People think GMs don't care or take the side of the abuser and it's easy to see why. People just want fairness. Tyrese was banned handling stolen items yet somehow is forgiven when others haven't been. This is why people leave. Let's actually act on the bad people and make the game better. I used to play every day 5 hours+ now it's 5 hours a week maybe? GMs can see it's a lot less from me. Maybe one day they'll take action. Prolly I.P. ban those demanding action, it's easier for them. People wished death on me in pm and I complained which is rare for me I never do and the GM told me to grow up. This is why the game is dying. They ban the 100% honest people and not the cheats/abusing people. Fact. Syonide is not banned. Need I say more? And they wonder why people leave in big numbers.

"CARNAGE"I'm sure boredom has nothing to do with why people leave lol, oh wait. +1 Yeah & that imo is because the 'endgame' that so many people claim is missing is the PvP hence my suggestions toward a more PvP accessible based server. Some people seem to think the aim is to get your character more powerful... to do what exactly; just more efficiently hunt the same mob or being able to move up to mindlessly grinding the highest str mob? Soma would be a lot more fun if there were a couple of 100 people, 5 or 6 guilds of roughly even power all mainly PvPing whilst still having some incentive to farm and improve items rather than a situation where 1500h min is req to even get to a stage where you are ready to really 'begin' the game at which point you'll never succeed unless you pitch in with one of the two main established cabals.

still think endgame could be gv on every map..... 1 war per night... only 1 guild can hold 1 gv at a time .. holders of said village get 2x drops on that map..... therefore..they will be farming there..and other guilds know where to go for some pvp action
That's like some reward for attending, winning and will need more than 2 guilds to compete for all the gv's. Some tweakage of guildhopping and bobs ur gvw event on a bigger scale. Would have to add a few mobs here n there to make some worthwhile hunting on every map. ( mayb) ;p

I also think a random x2 exp on a random day and x2 crafting on a different day randomly to keep people logging in to see if its on, might encourage them to stay logged on seeing as they would have run to there hunting ground/ crafting station.
