One day a week double xp alternating each week with 1 day a week double xp crafting.
2 hrs in a 24 hr period for double drops daily. Random. Edit: In my oppinion the rates a re fast, don't need to double xp rates now. Crafting could do with a welcome double xp weekly event or bi weekly.

Don't get me wrong I myself am 100% happy with the current levelling speed since the last 25% increase I think it's pretty perfect. I was more thinking of a way to keep ppl logging in daily and if they have to go hunt to see if its a dbl exp day then they might be more inclined to stay online.

Honestly I think the if people see that the GMs are interested or working on new content or fixing old content then people will be inclined to stay or come back.
At the moment it feels like they're just abandoning the game, yes they've done brilliant work and having played esoma recently its shocking how terrible that was compared to this. Thats my two cents and it may land me in hot water but no use skirting around the issue. Edit: Finito has posted twice in the forum in the last month, nothing of value and Isylvers competition ran out nearly 3 weeks ago with no word. I ended up buying the book anyway to have a read, its pretty good.

"SAL3M"Some people seem to think the aim is to get your character more powerful... to do what exactly; just more efficiently hunt the same mob or being able to move up to mindlessly grinding the highest str mob? Said this about 4 years ago lol, no idea why certain people crave this mega good gear when they don't use it for anything other maybe killing the same mob one second quicker than before. They don't go to bosses, they don't pvp and they don't go to gvw lol.

You cant force someone to play the game how you want to play it yourself.

Not entirely wrong but fairly trite all the same... some people probably buy Bugattis to commute to and from work at 30 mph. They might not be ‘wrong’ but it still begs the question ‘what is the point?’. There are plenty of free/v cheap grind based games that have extensive lore, far more developed PvE mechanics as well as solo RPGs etc. It is pretty clear that the end goal of Soma is to improve your station for PvP purposes since the PvE is almost literally just filling in a spreadsheet.

"REBEKAH""CARNAGE""SAL3M"Some people seem to think the aim is to get your character more powerful... to do what exactly; just more efficiently hunt the same mob or being able to move up to mindlessly grinding the highest str mob? Correct. No one needs to take the base, get a multi kill, to score a goal or to save a damsel in distress to enjoy something. Think people forget its the doing of things itself that's enjoyable (plus whatever thinks you like). I really wish more people could have seen ESoma at times other than 'its last year' when people stopped caring and things were going from bad to worse. Guilds actually had a purpose and crazily enough was about them doing things together, not screwing over guilds. The game was slow, interactions were plenty, there was no grinding out to level 100 in a month-3 months, it was maybe level 30 in a month. Some how the game was richer and had more zest. You probably spent 3 days at Kobolds, maybe 7-14 at Raptors, 3 weeks at trolls. That's if you played a lot of hours. Can you imagine the speed at Sand Valks/Xenos/Shanis/devil fish. The enjoyment of finally being able to use a five star spear, or a black devil sword. Upgrade items didn't drop outside of VoD but you were thankful for any spirit powder/DB/AT you got as they were very rare. Those times it was so slow, we socialised, got to know eachother, did our own guild things like dungeon runs or hunting a zone together. Or even getting a +1 upgrade of some sort. Can you imagine the damage a stat route does to that? I don't think I had a single upgraded item at level 73 but I still enjoyed playing mostly. All without having to get your PK on (that said there was only a handful of occasions I had to fight pkers in merc/GY) over the space of several years. That's right boys, it was a MMORPG. And beneath the population that decide to make it otherwise, it still is. I remember throwing myself into GVW a few times and even getting on stone, think my guild Destroyers got GV on the day I wasn't on (lol). But I guess what can we expect here when everyone is older, some even very bitter, seemingly expecting some magic from a old game to make it enjoyable and when it doesn't give that, say the game is about PVP. Hint. PVP is only the focus because PvE content is not there anymore and hasn't been developed in line of anything else. People get bored and say its the only thing to play for. I mean, how can people get enjoyment from just playing... the game and levelling normally and treating it as an online RPG... god only knows ;o GVW/WoTW/PVP does give you a reason (if you want to use it as one) to level and get stronger but its down to the person. And Sal3m, for your post about Bugattis, lots of people own things just because they can and want too. Just because you own a racehorse doesn't mean it needs to be raced and doesn't mean you can't enjoy it.

"FOXTRCK" Soma is too out of date and limited by the mechanics to have a really effective PvE system imo although dungeons that only let parties of 10 in at a time that you farmed keys (or whatever) to enter may be implementable and cool. Best way to get UC up and to get guilds socializing is to make it easy leveling then mainly farming (use all mobs/maps/skins) with daily/multi-daily PvP type events like holding stones for bosses, implementing POS for PvP that you can use to buy stuff etc as I have outlined. Just my opinion and tbh I think my vision is accounting well for PvE players as well anyway - still got farming just more diverse, less gear disparity means more equal opportunities at bosses etc. The quote above is a complete straw man attack as I acknowledged there is nothing wrong with it even on principle in my original comment. The point was that the inherent properties of things lend themselves to certain uses/purposes even if they have alternative uses/modes of enjoyment that are less orthodox or less widely subscribed to.

When you read these forums it's pvp this, pvp that, blah blah pvp.....
Blah blah Soma is a pvp game blah blah blah. Your all wrong to claim it's a pvp game...... It has elements of pvp - gvw, wotw, ss, ctf, and pk. Soma is and always has been an mmorpg don't think majority know what it really means playing Soma and majority claim to have played esoma. How some of you ever got above level 30 I have no idea. The pvp brigade always crying there's no pvp, there's a great function called guild wars and it works 24/7 there is no limit, try it out its great fun. The pvp brigade are the ones that are mostly responsible why the UC is low, cause they can't help themselves from driving players off the server.

Not sure if I'm being lumped in to 'PvP brigade' or not but...
I'm suggesting that making the hump to get to a state where you can participate in more stuff than mindless grinding and catering to the aspects of the game that have aged the best (that is PvP imo but to each their own - like I said I'd like to see dungeons, diverse farming mobs, etc) will drive up UC. The plain and simple fact is that there aren't many people who will log into a game like Soma and see the couple of thousand hours until cap/reasonable crafting skill as anything but a mindless, repetitive chore. No real lore/anything to explore, almost one track leveling, no mechanics to actually master, simply point and click, low user count and half the time it is one of 10 different people on a character so no social aspect. If it was easier for a casual player to become competitive (whether that means in PvP or just gearing up for the sake of it or whatever they want to do) it would fix a lot of issues about UC, multi-ing, botting and item selling imo.
