Hi everyone,
I'm recently back after a bit of a absence, after seeing some of the new updates (most importantly the revised +50 route). I've almost completed 30 Con on Bugs, right out of the gate. My plan was to heal to around or close to 100, but after seeing how long it would take, I don't think I have it in me lol. I'll probably just heal a small amount and do the rest in the usual fashion. I was just wondering what kind of builds are considered "viable" now. I want to get out there and leveling up again, on the old mobs I used to level on many moons ago. But I'm not sure which direction to take. I know of the pure bow then into axe build, but to be honest I've already done this build and I wanted to level in a different way and not use bow. I want to make this build a little more Int heavy, as I've never really run a mage character before. I've heard of a build consisting of picking up an axe and just going pure Strength, then switching over to Int at high Strength levels. That would interest me a bit, as I've never really done a build like that, but without the use of crazy upgraded Dex items, I imagine that would be pretty hard to level, considering I will be doing it solo? Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated :D

"MICKYC"this may help : https://myth-of-soma.fandom.com/wiki/Monster_Strength Thanks! The inclusion of a wiki with all the relevant information all in one place is super handy. Can't even remember how many times I've had to go trawling the forums for different information :D

All builds are viable if you know the limits of each build. If you want to 1v1 pvp, then high dex and bow does seem to come off best most times but other than that, all builds have pros and cons.
Personally, I'm going for pure sword and int purely because it's probably the least done build and I'm in interested to see what it's like at level cap with good gear. I'm having a blast as str with sword is so much faster than dex with bow and I don't have to worry about losing staff skill to keep bow and axe skill up. For builds with lower dex, the main issue is needing a lot more special repairs if you choose to hunt with good gear. What I have found now though is you just need a good wep and can get by with dark armour sold in abias or untagged bone armour which people give away for free.

It does appear that the high dex bow build does seem to be best way to go, typically enough that was the route I was trying to avoid lol. The reason just picking up axe and whacking away was appealing, is I've not leveled with before. With now being able to hunt any mobs, and being able to buy armor at NPC's without having to beg around town for someone to make me the next gear set, sounded like a fun way to go. I really don't have anything to worry about in terms of SR'ing good gear, cause I literally have none anyway lol. I would be literally leveling with NPC bought weapons and armour, unless I get lucky with the odd drop here or there. But that being said, not having access to any decent gear might make the lack of dex too much of a chore when leveling just axe... Hmm!

Axe and staff is a viable build also, all stats are nice and fast, best of both worlds as you get to hunt boars and wasps, very tanky.

Just be aware with pure axe that it can get a bit depressing when you get to boars as you have an atrocious hit rate on them. It's like a 35% chance to hit as you'll have around 95 dex and they have 110 defensive dex.

Not having enough Dex to hit the mob I'm meant to be hunting was my main concern throughout the whole thought process. Although I suppose it's it's minimal up until Boars, then luckily enough that's a long way off. I guess it'll just be a case of me crossing that proverbial bridge when I come to it. I may be in a better place to able to create or buy gear by that point, to help offset the lack of Dex :)
