Playing during normal rates

Author Content Date
Double drops creates a thriving economy for a short period then most people quit because their gear is all +4 and the risk/reward for going further isn't worth it. Once your gear is at +3/+4 all around there's not alot of things to do. Soma was designed for the grind to cap then farm and perfect your character with items. It's turning into a game for basically when you cap but with very little content for actually being capped. By increasing drops and rates the game becomes too easy. Look at wow classic as an example, thousands and thousands played. Within a month 90% of people have quit because there's nothing to do once you've capped. The same problem exists in soma at the minute. There's nothing for capped characters to do that a level 110/120 can't do

As an example, I capped within 6 weeks of starting again. I know others who capped within a month. Now we all have +3/+4 access and armour with minimum +5/+8 weapons. Even though 90% of hsoma is bow i can't even sell some of my +5 stingers and psycho bows because they are everywhere now. I've gave 4 of them away to returning/new starters because there's so much gear to go around.

Soma is meant to be long term, grinding items for weeks at a time all for the anvil to break it going +1/+2. What we have now is 6-10 weeks to cap and become fully geared. That's not sustainable without quality content at 125 to keep everyone entertained

Agree with the above post 100%.

The way other similar games have gotten over this is by giving guaranteed objectives/content to fight over. On albion for example castles give points at 8pm daily, so as a capped player I can just log on at 8pm every day for guaranteed fights.

Soma would do something like: Garshuk will spawn every Monday a 7pm, valk queen every Wednesday at 2pm and fallen troll every Saturday at 10am. 1 hour 2 x drops at mags Friday 8pm

There should always be things accessible to capped players and capped players only, but on here you just get people complaining they're being excluded because they can't cap one character in 6 years.

The drop rates of the original game were carefully set to follow the rate of xp as you progressed.
SD drop rates have always been behind xp rates and, although both have been increased a few times, drops have lagged behind XP rates to the point where, unless you have gear to xfer from other chrs, you cannot gear up from your own drops any more.. Maybe x2 xp rates should reduce the HP of mobs rather than increase xp per hit - so u still kill the same number of mobs as before - just faster?
Leaving the current drop rate at x2 as the standard default setting would help a lot for the economy, as would changing the effects of the anvil to those originally suggested with ghost fails rather than the current system - which helps a lot compared to the original system - but is still far too punitive

I kill palus in literally 1 sec on my main.(epic nega weap n maxed out attk gear... reducing hp wont change n e thing for drops... just make lvling faster

increase spawn size and rates n increase drop rates

and the broken RNG system in place needs a overhaul

This statement about not being able to gear yourself is incorrect, at least for myself and 4 others who started since the event began. We all have +3 item minimum bar 1/2 items now with at least +7 weapons, all of us. We are literally giving away +5 psycho and stingers because nobody else will buy them because everyone and their dog has a +5 bow. The drop rates for the event were not sustainable for a long term server like this. The anvil breaking things is part of the game, at least we have +2 guaranteed now!

I've not read all the comments, can only assume it's mostly "+1 x2 forever" or "no its fine"
I'll refer you to my post on the ideas forum https://myth-of-soma.com/Forum/Thread.asp?ID=37958&title=Rested+Tiers&Page=1
I don't think it needs to be perma x2, but I do think something needs adjusting for lvling above 110, and those of us with less time for soma.

this gets moaned about every time we have an event, the current rates are the rates we used to have on events, its already been doubled twice to make the rates what they are now, if people keep moaning I can see the GM team stopping the events as you look so ungrateful.

To all the human players that have never stepped foot on dsoma, try it for 2-4 weeks then you will appreciate the drop rates on hsoma and feel like it’s an event everyday ;)
