I'm in agreement with Nite about the exp rates - could possibly reserve that for events. I'm not madly opposed to an increase; but i dont feel thats the biggest problem. Which leads to: Really really really could do with a significant permanent increase in drop rates across the board.

Drop rates certainly need to be increased.
The only way to obtain items now is to hunt for them. Nobody trades, and if they do all they want is barr barr barr and SD’s to a degree. More drops available makes life much easier for those who don’t have a big guild to trade between. I still think a store implemented with items you can buy with barr is a major game changer. The only worry with that is the sheer volume of bots about which are farming barr daily (I know on Dsoma you can get up to 15m per day using a bot)

I asked an Esoma player for some feedback
"Found the lvl rates quite quick but the drop rates were quite low which can be frustrating when there is a mob of you fighting same beasty, however, if you make it too easy then there's no hardship and makes it boring, its a hard balance to get. Found getting help was really good, most people on soma are more than happy to help and give you weapons/armour/advice. Higher grade weapons are difficult to get unless you know someone who can loan you them. Hope this helps. " Note - they have not capped but crafted to 200, they are level 108. And also to note that without my help they wouldn't have good levelling weps. I made them a full set of +2 eva and acc and lent out bows and axes to level.

I am a returning player from 2003 / 2004 or so. Something like that.
I am only level 53 on my current character, but I just assumed these levelling rates were the norm for this Myth of Soma. Either way, I have really, really enjoyed it. I don't get hours upon hours to play, so it feels really nice being able to progress and explore the game at a decent pace. I don't see how making it any slower would improve the experience. The joy of the game (for me anyway) is seeing all the different environments, monsters and interacting with the community. I can't speak to drops / crafting and all that stuff. I'm not at that level of the game yet where that hits its potential. Just as a newcomer to this Myth of Soma, the current levelling pace has been great. It's given me enough time to stay at certain areas, whilst also letting me move onto different mobs just as I was getting bored of the other ones.

"NITE"So, there have been many forum threads like this one asking for higher lvlin rates since the launch of this server... The grind to level cap was a thing back in esoma but only due to the low level rates where you spent awhile at each mob before moving on to the next mob, its completely different here in that you can be in vod in a day, 2 days max if you know what your doing. It’s been mentioned time and time again that the stumbling block for new players is when reaching Shanis, blg stage the speed in which you get to these mobs your basically gearless unless help from the community and this is due to the poor drop rates, 95% of pointless drops that are of no use to anyone. Do quests then I hear, for the casual players that may have an hour or 2 to spare 2 or 3 times a week, most players just want to spend that time levelling, actually playing soma. The big kick in the bollocks is not having much to show for there time except the stats on there characters screen. No god forbid they actually get a good drop here and there, the anvil soon takes care of that if they dare go above +2 on anything. Crafting is a costly part of soma, some love it, some hate it, and some just fecking cheat at it. It’s pretty fast nowadays which is great but the trouble is and always will be until something is done the mat restocks just isn’t enough for everyone, so no point increasing craft rates if players have no fecking mats to craft with. This area has been discussed to death from lots of crafters and still nothing from the gm’s. Also been mentioned many times only things of interest for most is diamonds, nega tears, double tabs. Gm’s had the chance to put a cap recoil in for the last 3 tiers of weapons but didn’t which made diamonds wanted even more, they had the chance to limit ss to just 1-5 but didn’t, so again it made players want faster weapons even more and until this area is addressed it will continue to make players focus on making faster weapons. This Christmas event and additional extra month has been decent, been good seeing towns busy, hunting areas with plenty levelling, farming etc. The same always happens right after the switch off, the time invested versus rewards just disappears and players put there characters on hold till the next event. In a way we have been spoiled these last 2 years to a degree due to the COVID and iSylver doing his bit to keep us all entertained in soma with the improved rates, but these last 2 years have been the best for ages in that players feel like there improving character wise, gear wise, and that’s from the drop rates. So to log on at the moment it’s a huge difference for a casual to level without rested, its a huge disappointment when your getting very little to put in your wh. The levelling, crafting, drop rates these last 2 years should become the normal rate from now on, players can see the rewards from these rates and makes everyone want to log in and continue playing soma, continue there journey in soma.

[quote="RAVENSOUL"][quote="NITE"]So, there have been many forum threads like this one asking for higher lvlin rates since the launch of this server...
X2 rates I disagree to a certain degree, The grind to level cap is what it's all about, progressing through each mob as you get stronger is what people use to get a buzz from. Now, what makes this incredibly boring nowadays is the drop rates, If for example you started a new charater from scratch (without using your already upgraded gear) you would struggle massivly to get anywhere.
The fix for this is x3 drop rates across all hunting mobs (So that even NEW players can get going quickly and get addicted to the game they once loved) and x3 drop rates from Bosses. Increase crafting to x2 to make that part of the game less time consuming.
In addition, no one is trading right now because nothing has value anymore apart from small diamonds and negamare tears which people keep anyway unless they are desperate for other upgrades, nobody trades for armour anymore because anything that isnt champion armour is outdated.
Also no one is farming right now because Mags only desireable drop is barr, and everyone needs barrs nowadays so they're stuck to farming mags.
(Hopefully horde mode fixes this issue)
With posts like these if you dont give a good explination for wanting things and just ask your whatsapp to go +1 it, theres no point, Dan will know people are doing it for their own benefit.

So yesterday and today I was off work, without any distractions and I pretty much sat on soma for the two days.
In that time I killed 3 soul bosses (KK, BA and KK) none of them dropped a soul, I farmed 2k vafer (not a single SD and one mystical frag) that was it for about 12 hours of soma. That isn’t worth the time or effort really. Now the vafers was for a quest so I normally wouldn’t bother to farm as I know drops are crap, but I was shocked at just how bad they are after we’ve had double rates for so long. As has been mentioned, make it perma x2 and during holiday events make it 0.5 on top or something like that. Because currently soma is going to die a death, the UC has already dropped off a cliff in two days!

On a side note, what would people say to have boss timers reduced now?
The +6 stat rings are about 10 or so souls to buy which could take some players a year to get (I’ve never bought one and I’ve played 6+ years so that’s what I’m basing this on) do we think a reduction in timers is a good idea?

Maybe a good time for the +4 accessories to be made craftable?
I had a look at them +6 accessories, honestly thought they required more than 10 souls you mentioned, and thought never in my lifetime and wasn’t worth paying a sd per soul at the time not with the anvil anyhow. Double edge sword your suggesting on bosses, reduce turnaround time on bosses could just create a bigger gulf with those that have and haven’t, if there spawn areas were more random then yeah, removing the warnings of bosses might help more casual players getting a look in.

Problem is no Dsoma guide also up to date and losing x 2 makes this many players play less.
Big ty to Eric suggestion and Finito for fixing the downtime server stable now but the drops omg x2 gotta be in full time it is so dreadful now. Not the crafting or exp the drops. 1 hunt from 1 2.6k bow brought 27 cloudy bones and 2 Lava stones and 2 Anthracite. Really? Pls make Grim bows craftable as well. Also in the crafting robes for 200 skill. U get them 100skill on Hsoma but on Dsoma have to ask Isylver when u reach 200. Not that it helps cos in 9 days 1 month ago i asked pmd him on the forum privately and not even sure Perfect has his who asked weeks b4 me, Kinda unfair. Come on omg. Hsoma yea quest Dsoma get stuffed. How we feel. This hard to get robes with 200 weaps 175 cook and 172 pots Dsoma? Why? Feels like hell will freeze over b4 i get robes with over 527 skill lol
