"RAVENSOUL" There's two big issues with that, Raven. It instantly makes the items themselves almost worthless, you need one of each item and that's enough forever - maybe two for int/str sets etc. It also doesn't really do anything to address the primary problem right now - failing on a +5 or whatever piece of armour that you've been putting double tabs in is still just as painful, replacing those double tabs is beyond tedious for most players. It might be slightly less painful with weapons but losing halfway upgraded items is just too harsh right now. And ultimately the already rich players benefit far, far more, with none of that rolling down to less hardcore players. Ghosting comes with its own issues, no doubt. It does mean that one coin toss doesn't cost you months of grind though. And, the biggest benefit imo, would be the roll down. Most players would always have something to aim for - doing better than that 4/8 armour piece and, when you finally get there, you sell on that 4/8 piece to someone. The hardcore players still have the best gear but everyone else on every tier below them now isn't so far behind, still has things to aim for and aren't afraid to upgrade items. Or, the simplest solution of all, leave upgrades the way they are and make the top items drop from regular mobs again. You remove the worst of the pain from the anvil if you can actually get the items again without months of work for one item. /e wrong char - 3D

Just make it so that on a fail the item you tried to upgrade reverts back to its original state, that way you only lose the upgrade item and it might be luck and only take 8 attempts to get your +8 item or could take you 12 attempts, 25 attempts or take 40 attempts but you will eventually have that real upgraded item all shiny +8 pride and joy in your inventory.
It will help the economy because most of all players will use combine more often trying to get intense tags, more players will enjoy farming more knowing only there upgrade items will be lost, the economy will improve from more players enjoying soma once again, win win for all.
Can take many weeks/months of farming to get to point of walking to that anvil and we all know in a matter of seconds you will be over the moon and grinning or crying your eyes out it’s brutal plain and simple. from how I understood it, it was never about having a fake +8 to brag with, it was always about allowing you to gamble on - say for a decent levelling item that you only have the one of; for example, your only apus bow, safe with the knowledge that you would not lose it completely. So, more as a help to level and progress faster - a +5 apus is still better to have than no apus - even if it is labelled +6. True high plus items only really matter in end game items..........

Ghosting, not a fan and deep down neither of you are cause your bullshitting if you think you’d be happy having fake +’s on your items.
I completely agree with you on your last point 3D all items should revert back to being dropped by mobs it’s how it should be imho.
Yes it would be harsh losing all them double tabs if your item reverted back to its original state at say +7 (failing at +8) but that’s the slight risk as there still should be some element of risk. But there is a repeatable quest to get the tear to add to 2 tabs to make more but your item is still safe. I agree MickyC a +5 apus that say’s +6 would be decent to a casual player but let’s not sugar coat this ghosting cause that apus bow could in fact be still +5 or +6 and only be +2 and we all know we would be gutted with that, even enough to push a player to quitting which let’s face it many players have over the anvil. I can only speak for myself, if I knew only the upgrade item was at risk of losing it I would have spent more time at that anvil, I wouldn’t stop at 1 set of evasion, strength, accuracy etc I would be the crafter I always wanted to be, making item after item to sell, trade that’s all I wanted in my time in soma. From the moment I read about soma describing what roles you could be, it was the crafters role I was most looking forward to from soma. Sadly it’s never matched my imagination, from low amounts of mats from npc’s to poor farming area all the way to the anvil. It’s just one brick wall after another, one step forward and ten back that’s a crafter. So much potential and feck all has improved really.

@raven
crafting never had the love it needed, I suspect it was just thrown in as an after-thought to bulk out the attraction of the game by including as much "stuff" as possible at roll-out. A lot of love and attention to crafting is needed to fix it - with recipes, disassemble, smelting, combine, mats acquisition, bag weight, mats quality effects, skill level benefits, etc all having cause and effect on the resultant crafted and up-graded items I have spent an awful lot of time since we last spoke looking at this in great detail as a whole and I have it fully documented, complete with all revised/new tables built and it is both doable and viable but would require significant time to implement properly In the current situation, I can't see that happening any time soon....

"BIGBERT"@raven Completely agree with your assessment there MickyC, maybe one day the crafting on soma will live up to it’s actual potential. When all the talk about the mining, fishing etc from iSylver, Finito I thought that would be the beginning of making crafting great, sadly never heard anymore....

i liked the idea of random stat being applied to an item and such depending on tag and skill of crafter etc like in many manga / manhwa type things.

Move gedusa to wave 15 (nobodys reached 20 in months)
Quests
This might get more people attending.
And most importantly remove sd from low level botting mobs!!!!! Add to mags.
Just rename Gedusa to Frequency and you should get your whole guild attending!

As someone who just hit the shanis/ blg rotation for str gains (and after seeing just how strong the strongest are especially after reading this forum) I its not even worth my time playing.
The gap between people like me and the others is just beyond a joke. Even the kill count on basic lv 50 daily quests is beyond ridiculous, how is a 30+ Married man with Kids suppose to kill over 400 devil fish for just 1 "Daily"? Was fun while it lasted but I dont think ill ever bother giving this game another try. Feels like im wasting the free time I have to play games as its a utter slug race, even with the current rate increase. **EDIT** Literally trying to keep myself going after I posted this message.

Hard to disagree with this. I had a lot of time to play during pandemic but now can't get on much. I got to 450 scrolls months ago but the thought of farming 15million barr just completely made me turn the game off. Just one look in town at people crafting shows the same person botting barr on 4/5 chars lol. And if i did work to get the 15m barr i am at the mercy of RNG at the anvil. The most obvious update which would remove the most frustrating part of the game, the ghost upgrade, has been talked about before I even started playing and has STILL not been implemented.

ghost wont solve the problem but i will propose something
make upgrades until +4 100% and then after that u need to add an extra material that you can buy of crafters to increase the % sucess rate and if it fails weapon wont break. This is also a give crafters something they can use to start trading with others. The gatekeeping with the recipies needs to STOP the find it by burning thousands of mats is stupid just to find an Alpha version is not good they should be known from the get go like every normal MMO. Spread out the drops around from Boars/Tarks to Vafers/Heretics for meele and same for mage mobs both sides. have specific mobs that have chance to drop certain items from dias/ancient/champion/corr armors etc Revamp mag dropfile remove all the vanilla stuff from them make em meele only recolor the elders to be more distinct from the normal ones and keep elders for mages only.

with approx 30% of vod populated by df/palus..only needed for new characters to get a bit of dex/str b4 they go shanis .. there's plenty of available room for a new farming mob
these could drop champ pieces along with other useful things.. nega weps/mysticals etc could also introduce some repeatable 5/10k quests where u could get a valour wep ( b4 any smart ass says ''lupi asking for free stuff coz he's lazy '' it benefits everyone
