I'm not complaining but I find using some default controls in soma I would rather bind to other keys on the keyboard. Unaware of a way to remap the keys, instead I have been using an xbox360 controller to play soma and would like to share how I do it.
I haven't read rules on website links so I will just say the program I use is Xpadder and is easily found by search. Xpadder simulates the keyboard and mouse using your gamepad. Just leave the program on in the background and it will control all that your mouse/keyboard would. Technical details? - Supports Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8 - Works on both the 32 and 64 bit versions of Windows - Full keyboard and mouse emulation - Supports up to 16 controllers at the same time (multiplayer) - Rumble force feedback and advanced fine-tuning options - Create a layout for any controller that Windows can see - Multiple profile management using sharable files - Designed for gamepads, joysticks and arcade sticks - Also works with steering wheels, dance mats, drum kits, guitars... I'm sure many will find it useful even outside of soma. Enjoy! ;) Edit: added my config and profile files. Use Preset 2 for Soma! as I use Preset 1 to operate PC when I'm lazy. Xpadder.ini (Untitled profile).xpadderprofile This is my config however your interface may vary I haven't updated xpadder in years!

"RICHMICH"Gib, As requested My config and profile files use Preset 2 for Soma! Xpadder.ini (Untitled profile).xpadderprofile I'm not sure if you need both config and profile files together maybe config works alone and I can remove the other link. Let me know if it works OK Edit: re-hosted on dropbox

I wanted to code a kind of bot which worked with a gamepad.
The idea being that use the control stick to move and if a mob is close you start automatically attacking it. So you just keep on walking around killing mobs using a gamepad and it means it is not so much of an automated bot. You could use the second stick to change mob targeting. Or maybe the second stick acts as a targeter. I could code it so that a little targeting circle appears over the mob you select(kind of like selecting a player in Fifa 15) and then you press one button to engage and attack it. However I don't have the time to do it and it probably wont be allowed. No nice things :(

A few questions have been asked in game.
How do you connect? Personally I have only tested this with a USB 360 controller and if your looking to buy one I recommend the ones specifically for windows as they are cheaper and still work in the 360 no problem. A friend has wireless controllers only which I am sure is the case for many others, you can use a wireless receiver (hardware specifically for connecting it to PC) I will get verification of this working with Xpadder shortly. How do I type? I put my controller down and use the keyboard I was blessed with. There are 8 presets on the old Xpadder i use (could be different on recent versions) but this means you could bind alot more buttons and use a button to switch between presets. Do I need to run Soma in windowed mode? No it works perfectly fine open in the background and controls whichever window you have selected as the mouse / keyboard usually would.
