Hello somarians,
recently people have been wondering about the level cap increase. Up to this point I have told them that it will be quite far away still. This hasn’t changed immediately, however before we do start looking into what it would take to increase the level cap. Preferably we would work on certain issues of interest before increase the level cap. Like ‘lack of steady wow attendance from hsoma’, ‘lack of willingness to do Gorshak when too few are on’ as well as the option of upgrading Sacred Stone. These are all major aspects in Soma and there is a chance that it might not be so simple to fix. For that we always have the option of fixing it using the level cap increase. Some smaller issues also need to be looked at. Recently we’ve been reminded of a small problem - how does one get rid of old quest items? Also there’s the everlasting ‘issue’ of drop rates and drop lists. People will never be happy with these but it is something we’d like to work on. There are also some things we want to do before the level cap is increased. For instance there are still a lot of quests that need to be introduced. We also might have to add some content that could affect balance to fix one of those issues of interest. To summarise. There are still a lot of issues that we want to work on before the level cap. However, we are looking forward and we are starting to prepare and brainstorm for increasing it. Kind regards, The staff

Not to arm chair GM you guys or that - but threads of these nature go a long way to the players. Even if your posts are simply "we are working on stuff but not ready to reveal" it creates excite.
Spoilers of future content etc also keep a buzz about the game. Sneak peaks to some items on your to do list etc. Either way - appreciate the update.

I have recently introduced the other half to soma im slowly winning her over, it stops the complete nagging all the time hehe ^^, so from a new players point of view (who knows nothing about the game) wars do not interest her atm at all stats do not bother her so much either... her 'highlight' of soma so far is completing quests and having something to work towards getting a reward we are playing together and trying to keep at the same lvl in the few hours a night we get.
Some improvements which i'd imagine could be hard are small things like adding the co ords of the npc you need to go see in the quest journal, followed by the co ords of the mobs you are required to hunt, also another good addition imo would be tips rolling on n off screen every time change like the wotw or gvw advertisement thing simple things like 'The armory has many useful features, log in and check your recommended monsters to get a guideline of where you should hunt'. I don't know if we are past the point of introducing features like this to help new players and just want upgrades boss's and lvls/stats I just don't want this server becoming the same ol bore. Btw excellent job on the quests for dsoma we are enjoying them :)

The main point of Ghost's thread at least from what I am taking from it is that we will not have a level cap increase or new content relating to a higher level without first polishing up the existing content where it falls down.
In my view the issue of hsoma attendance is motivation. There are some real downers or meh moments in an hsoma's personal decision to go wotw. These are at least some that go through my head: I don't want to go just so i end up with -2000 pos, don't kill anyone and end up running around wasting leveling time for no reason. I'm not fussed about getting conti because it does not benefit me until i need Lb for weops Minton's was an interesting addition but they don't drop often enough for me to bother grinding them. The mobs on conti for hsoma are not for everyone. there are gaps and pretty big ones in my view or knowledge of their use by comparison to the dsoma leveling path. Hsoma str path Wolf>Leo>Orc/Kob>Scale>Rap>Troll>BG>Dws>Mess>Ban> etc 'im sure thats not 100% but sure' How much of this path can you follow on castle/conti? 4? There are mobs of different names but no incentive to have a look on armory to bother going there since the drops files suck as much as regular tyt~merc and its safer Dsoma str path inguit>sedlack>kivela>mordant>IF>DS>RC>FW>Hopper>>Tark War>Abs>Ebs>Kharil Liz>WBM These mobs drop armour and weops for the most part often enough and are suitable. Also they drop special gems which provide access to mats and a steady source of income. The conti mobs in some instances are stronger than the hwan alternatives giving yet another good reason to go get conti. In this respect i find dsoma more fun and polished than hsoma, not perfect but pretty linear. Hsoma is easier because of a higher population and a known crafting system that aids in the development of a character right up to LB weops. from there you get dumped off without consistent access to arm/weops without having to fight tooth and nail at mini boss's or trade. I don't intend this to be a comparison between devils and humans past. I just feel they have significantly nicer incentives to get conti and that's only because there is work to be done to address that.

Thank you for this up-date / info - it is great to hear :)
For me one of the most petty but annoying things is the quest items and not being able to dump them - I know I was a fool to pick them up :P - but they take up valuable storage space for 1 of these and 2 of those........... I think it is still too soon for a lvl cap increase - but I think that there needs to be something new (a mob or a tuff, protracted quest for upgrading hero maybe.........) for those that have got there already to keep the game interesting and fun.................

Just a suggestion, but to improve SS/WOTW attendance could GMS make it so that RVR provides exp/stat/skill gains when hitting a player from another realm? something like maybe 5-10x (maybe more) the rate of the top end mobs? Maybe enable this to be toggled off/on individually as well.

Good post Ghost. Always nice to know what's going on and what you guys think. Let me put some (hopefully good and easy fixes).
Sacred stone 1) needs to be a death punishment, spawning back in town with a 20/30 second cool down on re entering. 2) maybe have pos linked to this in player deaths? To many people go naked to grief slow heal or hit. WotW 1) reset of all pos back to 0 and introduce new "wanted" items in the pos shop. A ban on pos trading with this. 2) Dev morale chars allowed access to the whole event WotW and SS 1) show -2k pos deaths on feed 2) npc for these events with free pots that only work during that time frame (accessible by Dev morale General Hsoma points (me or other players can easily help with these) 1) a lot of quests are targetted at the wrong levels, so you are way past that mob stats when you get the quest. 2) a lot of mobs drops are also targetted at the wrong levels and same as above. 3) Hsoma gorshak and dionea could do with health reduction, maybe 1/4. 4) update the minions shop. It's a few events behind now. (This might help with wotw attendance?) 5) new quests shouldnt be just about grinding mobs. Have some interesting ones like player and or RVR kills. (On same level or higher to stop gifting). Also maybe have crafting quests ect. Try and cater to everyone. You shouldn't have to do this, but offer hsoma bday bugs for the next month for every wotw they win. It's not a big game changing incentive. But I think you would see an uplift in attendance by doing it.

Another improvement I'd like to see for the PvP events, is level tiers (this has been suggested by someone in the ideas section before).
e.g something similar to SS (maybe without the pos rewards, but item / boss reward relevant to level tier) which is basically a massive free for all within certain levels. 1-25 / 26 - 50 etc etc. With the cap raising as well for lower levels the current PvP events will become even more pointless for them as there's no fun in getting 1 banged over and over be someone 50 levels higher than you.

"STYLE" Currently there's no feed for SS. Because the WoW feed registers changes for PoS, there is no feed for people who die at -2k. It would be a little odd to register -0 pos on the feed as well because the RvR feed is only aimed at PoS. It'd show every SS death as 0 pos was gained. If we were to make a separate RvR feed it would create doubles when PoS is gained. We're currently looking into this seeing what we can do. The options are: - Making an SS feed. - Making an RvR feed. - Keeping PoS feed, show +0 pos - Combination of the above. Goal: Avoid feed spam as well as duplicates. What would you like to see? I jumped on this particular item because we were looking into it. The rest of the feedback is very much appreciated and I've already taken some to put into our working system. Thank you for this and keep it coming!

Wotw
- Colour code names for higher - same level - lower level - Add assisted pos to the game to help those that cant get a kill a bit of pos rather than just loss (currently a low level attending wotw is just wasting pots, theres no rewards for them as they cant get a kill and cant make much a difference at winning - Force level 100's to warp thrown room, leaving safe zone for the lower levels (or use thrown/town/safe zone for 3 sets of level ranges) Conti - Add a skill mobs to castle map for humans - RvR shouldn't drop items, t6 works and ppl still go t6, so I don't belive items should drop RvR (specily when humans have a full armor they cant drop) make a RvR repeatable quest, where u collect a item per death - Have more boss mobs on castle, more RvR events with Boss mobs SS - Colour code names for higher - same level - lower level - Force warp ppl to town after death - Add in 1 pos per death (for those that cant tank on a stone) - Give 1 pos also for a assist death - add the option to warp to SS from warp lady rather than having to type the /sacredstonejoin PoS shop - more level range stuff - PvP gear (possibly reset pos + make it harder to farm/buy pos) (make it low dura so its not usfull to hunt in)
