Despite soma having quite a large number of different spells with some pretty cool animations, almost all of them are never used.
At the moment a mage usually only has the choice of power (dragons breath) or speed (ls/ss). I think it would really spice-up gameplay and unlock the wide range of unused magic already ingame to add effects to these spells, similar to the work the developers did recently on upgrade items and accessories. For example the white spell Energy bolt could have a 5% chance of slow, or the equivalent black magic spell a 5% chance of blind etc. This wouldn't make mages OP - i would suspect these spells would still have the same low damage - it just means more of a choice. I think a simple change like this is the sort of thing that adds a whole other dimension to soma pvp (and potentially pve) that people can get their teeth stuck into. Hopefully without being too complex to implement this would allow all of the magic in soma to find a use, and make things like gvw and wotw a lot more colourful.. ;D

I like the idea but I don't think it's possible to inflict two spells at the same time. Only way I could see this working will be with accessories.
