was just wondering if it should be changed slightly, leaving how its earned in place, but instead of it being set at lvl 20 100% rested how about changing it base on hours played instead, iv always seen rested as a way for casual/new players to try and compete with the top players which they most likely will never catch
Month 4 top lvl has put in roughly 400 hours in game (set rested to 100% for 200 hours in game) then say in another 4 months when top lvls have put 800 hours in game can change the rested hours to 400 and so on, so new players and casual players should always have a little chance to catch up I haven't got the exact number of hours people have put in, just using 400 as a example, don't have to set 100% rested exp to half of the top lvls hours, could be slightly lower so the new players cant overtake a top lvl if there having a brake (which there rested should also build up still) duno how possible it is just wanted to hear every one else's thoughts

So what would the point be in the high levels playing at all when they are putting in twice as much work for the same end product, the rested xp system as said before only is really beneficial at higher level.
I am by no means a hardcore player, I'm defo below average but I would not want this implemented, people who play more should be higher, this is a long term server so theirs plenty of time to catch up

I would be more interested in seeing it accrue past 100%, i.e. if you've burnt out, take 2-3 weeks off, come back to like 3 levels rested exp.

The server isn't really catered towards the casual player and I was pretty sure their were suggestions it would be, before launch. You cannot participate in wars or anything at low - mid level. Rested exp doesn't benefit you at all. Of course those who play the most should be the highest, that goes without being said. However, it would be cool if those who simply cannot afford to play for extended periods on a daily basis, had some means of competing in events and with other players.
As it stands you can only really hunt and if you have minimal time, you won't really get anywhere with these rates. Eventually the casual player base will phase out (and casual players tend to make up the majority of almost all games player base - I'm sure most older Soma players are employed now, or have different responsibilities than those of a decade ago).

I agree with this. No chance I'm ever getting to 100 with the time I have available. But something to make the game more fun for me would be great, whatever that thing is:
> Expanded rested XP as mentioned above. > Social events: RPing, riddles, games etc. > Lower level areas in WotW where casual players can fight each other and take part. > Other player interaction mechanisms. Right now it's fun at level 15. I imagine as it stands I'll get frustrated somewhere between level 30 and 40 and drift away. Hoping something changes before I get there -- they have a while considering how long it will take me.

Great post,
Maybe raise the rested 100% to 25 and allow them after that to gain more then 100% rested?? |

I am a great believer in end game and that the end game should be available to everyone. Take Warcraft for example, for me the game did not really start until you were the maximum level. At that level you had various options.
Now Soma, while others are high level you will find that levelling up is boring and its a constant cat and mouse game that you will never come close to being good character (good and not excellent). Also, your levelling areas will be deserted. While I also appreciate time invested should reflect the end game, with a game like soma it would take somebody new far too long to catch up to become even good, while the excellent players power on. I like the idea of rested accuring past 100%. Also perhaps it could be that; 1) Rested exp accrues faster based on your level range. For example between levels 20-30 rested xp is gained faster than 30-40 for the amount of time spent offline and so on with other levels bands. 2) Whereby up to level 20 is rested exp perhaps increase this by 10 levels every 2/3 months.

"SHATTERSTAR" I like this idea, but is this enough to even get within a decent range to be slightly competitive at wotw/Gv for casual/new players "SHATTERSTAR" problem with this is im a casual player and missed out on the rested to lvl 20, you increase this to 30 now and il miss out again not helping casual players, just helps new players catch up and beat the casual

I would love to be able to cut down my hours and play very casually and still compete with the best. However, I do not agree with this and is is not fair on others. Rested exp is a very good step in the right direction. But allowing everyman and his horse to get on par some of the top playesr by putting in minimum effort is not how I see an MMO or any game infact. Time invested = reward.

"SHATTERSTAR" In this case I believe he is talking about the fact that when the lvl 20 rested was introduced old characters didn't benefit.

"SHATTERSTAR"\ Unless you're only going to speed others up on level range, I disagree. I have mine spared out for punching and I need every % I can get while I work. Now, I have spent a lot of time and this is a newish job, but I feel that you can't suddenly lower the higher levels' rested % rate. That was part of the original incentive to play the game, was a good end-game rested %, which for devils, aids punching's monotony. I do think lower levels should get some sort of extended rested. I like the hours-based idea better tbh, at least to a degree. I understand that it is "unfair" to us that have played a lot, but I think it would help the longevity of the game in the end, and I don't see it overly affecting the higher levels anyways, at least for a time, if it can maybe snare some more players into wanting to play long-term. Thoughts?

"SHATTERSTAR" tbh give me 100% rested for 100 lvls and id still not out level the top players ingame Not asking to be on par with them, just would like to be inrange to be able to compete in Wotw/GVW, same with any new player and other casual. Surly its better for EVERYONE if theres more at gvw/wotw ??? people wont go if they get 1 hitted

I suggested a while ago that lower levels (under 40) should get significantly faster rested XP, while those above 40 get the current rate.
Instead under 20s were given free rested xp which kinda achieves the same thing. |
