Hey,
Just started nightmares this evening and cant believe how buggy they are. I really dont understand why this hasn't been sorted yet. So im standing literally on the tile next to the nightmare casting level 3 weaken and it just wont cast? so i move around to the other side of it and it casts. When i do finally kill it the drop appears 3-4 tiles away. Why has this super buggy mob remained ingame? I know this can happen with all intelligence monsters but nightmares really make it bad because of their absurd range. even if their range is reduced by say half but keep the searchable range the same (could even make them run really fast so it doesnt change much) i think it would make for a far better hunting experience. for all the people who say 'i hunted them like that so everyone else should' Just no, i love this game and i just dont know why such a stupid buggy monster is ingame... Makes the game look bad really wouldnt take much take to make alot better Thanks for reading

I believe the problem is their search range (6) is lower than their attacking range (8) which means they pretty much never move so they never correct themselves.... even if it was changed to search 8 and attacking 6 it would make it so so so so much better.
and would only take 1 minute Thanks again (correct me if im wrong but its the only normal monster ingame with a search range lower than attacking range? but i guess thats slither for you?)

Hate to be that guy but there's a part of the forum clearly labelled bug report because it's for bug reports.

This post is kind of a fusion between a bug report, a suggestion and a discussion. If he had posted it in Bug report it would have gotten a small fraction of the attention and invited considerably less discussion.

Crimson apai, Fallen Trolls, Drazil Druids and Gargoyle Shaman all suffer this too.

FINITO [Staff] |
All the NPC listed in this thread all have a search range the same or higher compared with the attack range.
Could change those with the same to have a higher search range, that might help. That doesn't fix the real problem which is why/how NPC position is not synced correctly with client. I just noticed that the search range does get decreased (to 70%) if NPC is outside of spawn area. I cannot think why there would be a need for that, so removing it so that it always stays at the full search range would probably help.

"FINITO"All the NPC listed in this thread all have a search range the same or higher compared with the attack range. Would i be right in thinking that, im sure that everyone has seen a monster move alot faster than its meant to? i always guessed this happened because as finito says the client isnt synced with the server. So when you move into a monsters search range but not into its attacking range it forces the monster to move towards you which inturn forces the client to sync with the server? If this is the case then that is why i suggested what i did as it should make alot of these hunting areas less buggy (unless big man finito can actually fix the syncing on monsters completely anyway :P) Nightmare must have had their search range change on this server (or im reading the database wrong o0) but i figured thats why they are the worst ingame Thanks for reading :)

"FINITO"All the NPC listed in this thread all have a search range the same or higher compared with the attack range. Maybe the search range reduces to prevent people luring away from the area?
