All you need to do is change the language / character settings on your computer so that it uses the limited Chinese extended ASCII set instead of the default western one (which is what makes you see all those funny symbols instead of Chinese characters). The Chinese versions of Windows are set up like this, the Korean version has its own set of extended ASCII characters, etc.[/quote]

My laptop has windows installed in English, but with Russian language pack (so I just alt+shift to flick between languages) and I can type in Russian in soma and read it. The chinese symbols come up as Russian letters to me. I crafted some armour with a Russian name which looked fine to me, but when I checked on my english pc it was just strange symbols. I can't imagine it being any different for chinese - its all unicode. I think a chinese player could read the ????s you type when you input chinese. And for you to read it you would just need to install chinese on windows. Its very easy on anything but windows 7 I think.[/quote]
