Hello all,
Thinking about ultimately turning my character into primarily a mage. (Probably won't get far with how little time I have, but it's still fun to talk about.) I have a few questions: 1. Does staff skill provide a MA bonus? Is it worthwhile going beyond the staff skill requirement for the best staff? 2. Is the best staff Crystal Staff or are there more I don't know about? 3. Is there a still a dmg cap? Is there an int cap? A wis cap? 4. Am I right in assuming that dex would be more beneficial to me than str for the casting interruption? If I have high con, would lower str have a huge impact on my character's hp, and is that a big deal for a mage? Bear in mind that I will never have enough time to level up every stat and create the perfect character, so I have to pick and choose how I spend my time. 5. Anything else I should know?

1: Yes, Yes
2: No, There are several, check out the Armory, search for staff, then do a search for wand, and you should have seen all staffs. 3: I think so, no - but it will get painfully slow eventually, just like all other stats. 4: Dex and str is only beneficial in pvp, generally though, dex = you will get hit less, str = you will take less damage when you ARE hit, main stat to get high HP i con - im unsure how str plays in. 5: It will be expensive at first in mp pots, but no worries, as soon as your doing wraiths (from between 55 and 65 int i think) and everything beyond that you will be making lots of money as a mage. Good luck :)

1) No, staff skill is pointless after 132 unless they add a new wand
2) Golden Thunder Rod & Shironim Wand 3) No damage cap, int cap is currently 176, but nobody will be getting there for a VERY LONG time 4) You will probably will want to get a bit of both, but yes more dex will help you cast 5) I will buy all your frogs and herbs for money! 6) #5 is really important

There is a damage cap. I believe DB with weaken capped at about 330 on the test server.
I just asked Finito about the first point since I was unsure. Staff skill DOES provide an MA bonus. |

1. Staff MA gives a generic 1-1 bonus every 25 skill, rather than being based on the magic attack of the weapon, which really screws mages at the end.
3. Damage cap is 5x ESoma cap. 4. You don't need any strength whatsoever. 5. Go hit and run BLG for int once you get iron fist and make yourself rich.

Yeah, kinda pointless getting skill when you've got your end-game staff.
The MA bonus from Staff Skill is negligible. No auras to be had either. I don't even notice my SS anymore. |

"SILENCE"1. Staff MA gives a generic 1-1 bonus every 25 skill, rather than being based on the magic attack of the weapon, which really screws mages at the end. I was talking to Finito earlier today and I was told it's not exactly like that. A person with 100 skill and a 25 power spell would get a MA bonus of 5. A person with 100 skill and a 32 power spell would get a MA bonus of 6. I typed the numbers from the top of my head so I could be a bit off.

Great stuff, thanks all! Taking it all on board, contradictions or not ;)
Two side questions: What would be the first/most important blue magic spell to upgrade to level 3? Weakening? Heal? And blue vs white? Is IF the end-game spell of choice? Looks like DB does more damage but costs more MP, correct? (Could be that things have been tweaked and changed since then, though.)

Can anyone explain the magic skill bonuses?
100 Blue = ? 100 White = ? And does the bonus come in only at 100.0 magic skill, or gradually every 10.0 or so? |

@ BELKA: From what i see from my mainly Human mage, is that you get 1 MD for every 10 Skill but only from attacks of that colour ie 60 blue skill adds +6 MD vs blue attacks. But i cant work out if it a passive bonus ( there all the time) or only when use spells of that colour (as the MD only shows when using spells).
@IMCON: From what i can make out IF is top end hunting spell due to the lower MP cost Vs DB, and DB is more of a PVP spell given the high MP cost.
