Tiered Rest System

Author Content Date
A tiered system to help people with the grind so they can participate more in pvp, gvw etc

This is obviously just an example of what i mean the actual levels and rates could be tweaked by GMs to make it more suitable.

level 1-50 High tier @ 8x rates

level 50-90 Mid tier @ 4x rates

level 90+ Low tier @ 2x rates (current rest rate)

Then on level cap raise remove rest from 101-110 (At least initially if not permanently)

There could be more tiers with gradually slower rates as you go up the the levels but this is essentially what I mean by a tiered rest system.

Thoughts ?

LdRealistically you can do 0-50 in around 50 hours (dsoma side) if it gets much quicker they might as well just make chars start at lv50?

Well we can either do this, or just alter the exp rates of the NPCs involved in the leveling path (have done this a few times in the past already).

Can just make the rates start out high and reduce over time until reaching 2x. I don't think there is really any need to say what the rate is, just that using rested will make you level up faster.

Either way we need to get such a change in first before being able to change existing monster content, we want to make all monsters useful in some way, so that means making use of those that are currently skipped while leveling, by making the rates faster more monsters are likely to get skipped etc.

The problem is that people are now tending to hunt the mobs that give max stats in +50 Str mobs. This means that they are starting on wraiths. So the changes I'm proposing is aimed at helping them do that. I feel ideally there should never have been a stat bonus, that way people could hunt all mobs with any weapons and they wouldn't be penalised. But clearly that can't be helped now so the best thing to do is to make it easier to make perfect chars as I feel people stop playing when they find out their character is vastly inferior to another character the same level.

The tiered idea is s good idea, wouldn't it be quicker and easier to implement then changing every individual mob xp rate? In case players don't go down the 'best' route

this idea is probably the best idea that can compliment the other idea of increasing rested to 90~95. by giving people an easy start and slowly exposing them to the grind, by 90 it shoudn't be the long and painful grind that many expect it to be after level 70
edit:
despite that soma is a leveling and grinding game, we need to retain as many users as possible, doing this would be the best route to go
