magic damage

"SCOIN"
"IPHIOS"
"SCOIN"that's my point, ints far to easy and produces to much damage in relation to melee

I think you missed Silence's point though ;o
If you look at the guild listings posted you will see that most people predominantly have spent more time doing melee than magic. Meaning it will not be "Myth of Mages" as people are clearly only doing int for the MD.
Whereas in comparison bow is what is overpowered and on goes the "Myth of Bowma" story.

(Not saying I agree or disagree just saying what silence has said!)

Ye I did get what silence said, but in most pvp and gvw its the int that gets results yet as said most ppl have spent far less time training int which is why I think its over powered. Putting the damage cap back to 200 would address the imbalance.

My myth of mages comment was referring to the fact that currently magic is the only option if your fighting another player, if someone has say 10 more int than you do they do a disproportionate amount of damage.

In PVP cases yes as range is a factor. Was magic use in PVP not always the case (pre apus bow) in esoma? ;o
At GVW it just depends who you are attacking. There are chars i wouldn't spend the mana on using magic and chars I wouldnt spend the dura on melee (which is pretty useless until you hit your top end weapons ie hom/ruby/apus/ripper etc) If you have similar str then your blood bow isn't hurting the other person ;o

Don't know if you were being flippant or whatever but 10 is not enough of an int gap to do disproportionate damage. Unless you mean disproportion in relation to someone with 10str difference? To which i would suggest that when you have top end weapons it would be the same ;o

As i type and read this then yeah ... I basically agree with what you have said at the moment. However when people's str increases and top end weapons are more common the shift will change and int will be predominantly an MD tool.
Therefore - no. MA is fine imo ;o

"SCOIN"was anything learnt from the test server?
the amount of changes so early has amazed me.

This. I didn't play test server and no offence to GMs, I'm sure running a soma server is harder than it looks and you made many valuable discoveries but I'm beginning to think test server was just one massive circle jerk.

Doesn't staff skill damage scaling scale horribly? I think Finito said somewhere it is just a flat value (1~1 MA every 25 skill or something). All other weapons scale much better than that.

Magic scales horribly with staff skill.

You gain magic attack every 25skill (roughly) but it also factors in the power of the spell.

INT is always good early-game due to weaken and 100% hit rate.

Also, so many items boost your magic attack whereas you don't have as many items that boost raw attack.

Content wise? It was. It was stated ove rand over and over and over and over again that the test sever was there so the community could have some fun and kill some time while the GM's worked on the server development (server side - not content).

Content wise the test server can mostly be ignored - besides the rates and items make it imcomparable. The only thing you'd find out by comparing this was how shit the test server really was (even though it was a lot of fun).

However I do believe a raise in the spell cap was needed and that it's doing good. There still is a damage cap, it's just nearly 2x as higher.

From a Devil's perspective I'm glad to see more mages as esoma had 3-4.

Well there have been many mages on this server, but due to the unfriendly beginnings of a mage leveling-wise, so many have dropped off.

Think there's about 5~6 mages in total who still play:

Monster, S0rcerer, Divinemaged, I0_0I, Rehlina and perhaps yourself?

MD plays his archer.
911v911 is played when his botting accounts are banned (their suspensions have been lifted and he's back botting again on VVVVVVVVVVVV and OOOOOOOOOOOO).
