Scaling of Rested

In theory the idea of gaining the first 1% in 8 hours and the last 5% in 10 hours sounds great, in reality it doesn't work.

Once rested lasts long enough, you can log off/craft until you reach the point where you gain rested at the fastest rate and then level off the % you get in a day at that level.

What that ends up doing is creating a situation where it's better for someone to hunt for 4 hours and log of rather than level for the full 6 hours. This also prevents people who can't play as much during the week from catching up at the weekends as there better off staying above the threshold.

You also gain % a lot faster doing INT than you do doing melee, which means that while you are above the rested threshold it's better if you don't do INT at all.

So scrap scaling.

If you scrap scaling, you'll see the divide in player stats widen, and result in the death of PvP and player fulfillment.

Those who can play 12 hours a day will PvP, those who work all day will be marginalized and left in the dirt.

*Unless you mean start off at a fast rate of rested gain*

From how I understand it, if I had 10% rested and only did 2% of a level and then logged, because I hit a mob, wouldn't that make the scaling start from the beginning as I hit a mob and not at the faster rate as I still had rested

Perfect the way it is. Rested at a higher level allows me to at least keep up with the multis and no lifers, while still working a full time job. Always look forward to coming home to level on rested.

I don't mind the way Rested XP scaling works right now (the longer you remain in town AND not hit a monster, the faster it gets).

However, I feel this system benefits higher levels more than lower levels (takes longer to get XP the higher level you are, but Rested XP is gained at a similar pace for all levels). I'm not saying nerf it for higher levels, but I am saying increase the gain rate for everyone under level 50 (keep >50 the same rate as it is).

Or implement a system where gain rate scales down linearly with your level. An example to show what I mean:
Level 1 gains 1% every 1 minute
Level 50 gains 1% every 50 minutes
Level 99 gains 1% every 99 minutes

Not with those exact numbers, but you get the idea. I do not want Rested XP to get nerfed in any way, though. It just needs a buff for those who are lower levels (so some serious thought needs to go into it not to affect those of us who are already high levels).

it was always said that rested xp would benefit people more at the end, sometimes i make a choice do i

1) level a bit longer and end up with less rested as ive been off line for less time
2) log out early and level on rested

simple answer is, lower levels are faster to gain, especially with int. why not get through the levels with int and then benefit from more of the rested, at level 60 10% rested would go along way with lower str and dex

i say leave it as it is, perfect the way it is and it needs no changes
