The impracticality of Str/Dex in hsoma.

I think zy's comments were in relation to the fact that people have already been leveling at a reduced rate for quite some time with the weapon's current attack - making it slightly unfair to give them a 20% boost now. If the new top tier weapons are given a mighty boost then it would both solve the attack issue and be fair to those who endured inferior weapons.


What about the new players this server craves and who we have seen Isylver welcome time after time, do not leave them out.

Most people agree there is a problem, why limit the change small % of the population who will reach the top tier items.



This, there are high levels out there at the moment so increasing certain weapons would just help bridge the gap between the stats/levels. I don't agree in the slightest that 'weve leveled with it so you now should', should ever be the case, if it where then things would never get changed for the better

Simplified the argument is I will always be ahead of you the exact amount since we both level faster now and I won't have to stay at dws so long. but it's unfair cuz I had to spend longer on wraiths than you do. So sure real time hours spent decreases but you play the game for fun don't you so as long as there is no advantage that makes the gap between low levels and high levels smaller there isn't really anything unfair to talk about. So increasing all weapons to dish out more dmg won't hurt if these are to weak problem arises if you tweak specific weapons.

If you fail to see what I mean think of a car.
If a car starts driving at 30mph and a week later a second car starts driving in the same speed the first one will have a head start. If both later accelerate to 60 the head start is still there only the progression rate changes.

I get what you're saying, but I also think the better we can make the game, the more it's going to attract players, both new and old. Many of the changes and improvements to soma were a big part of why I kept playing and got newly addicted.

Otherwise, I just want to say this is a great thread and I'm really enjoying the conversation. I'm not as qualified to get into the details as most of you, but I like where this is going and would like to see weapon attack improved.

A way around this could be like we had back on beta when we had a pre patch, that made all weapons ect 10% higher requirements but with also better att/def this will leave all the armours we have now but with the option to get better the higher tier.

So bone I think is 78 str would now drop at 85str but with better def.

Just a option.

I understand why you say this, but you have to realise that having a portion of the game (Str/Dex) be inferior to INT for the vast majority of the population is not how it was on Esoma, nor how it should be here.

This server has many improvements over Esoma, but the tag system affects Melee in a negative manner, where Melee only becomes worth using in PvP when you're in your last 20 levels.

On Esoma for eg. a knuckler on Dsoma would've needed to be about level 60 to start hurting other devils, due to the tag system and how it plays its part on armour, that same knuckler now needs another 10 levels before he becomes a threat.

On Hsoma, the case is the same, except the level bracket in which Melee becomes worthwhile using is even larger as the upgrades that affect Melee have been nerfed too.

What are you on about lol? You can get 35-50+ apus bows, on esoma the max was 29-44. Go get hit by leo then come back to me about melee dmg ;o Does no one remember consti on esoma? 0_0 int's only superior due to weaken + the dmg cap increase from 200 to 250

Hsoma's bone armour only gets a 1-1 or 1-2 better with rare tag ;o it's a lot different from dread or invul ;p

No one has mentioned wanting to make str/dex faster to gain or anything remotely related. That was certainly not my intention if you misinterpreted it that way. I feel the leveling speed for str/dex is absolutely perfect at the moment.

By increasing the attack on weapons you will make stats faster.. Can Gm's put a 10-10 dmg stat for Player vs Player on every wep ;o?

Not talking about easy mode I don't mind leaving it the way it is I prefere int anyway and don't pvp that much. But quite a few seem to want melee and int both to be viable in wotw, gvw and pvp. If melee really isn't viable Only way to do that is to increase damage from melee over all or decrease damage from int. but as I said I don't mind leaving it. But change a specific weapon will only be bad.

"FUJITORA"Another part of the problem is just that epic/intense weapons are just very rare, and with the upgrade system the chances of breaking one are pretty high, its not like dsoma where if you get an intense weapon you are done and you can use it forever..

Spent the best part of 1.5 weeks at LBs and had 1 Intense apus bow, and 1 epic crystal staff... Rest rares
Some could say i got an intense apus, but i know loads of other people who hunt there, most generally unsuccessful with high tag weapons


It is something worth emphasizing.

People are giving the argument 'wait till melee get upgraded weps and armour' - and there is merit in that, but if you just look at the test server, you can see how insane a statement it is.

On the test server after 1 year of playing with x15 (i think?) rates (compared to x2 here) there werent even people in +2 and +3 sets. And that was with the abyss on farm (MWUN dropping mares) and people hunting mobs higher than BLG for 12+ months.

Then we need to consider fail rates, as you say. Getting these incredibly rare drops is just the starting step - the amount of times I spent 3-4 days hunting 10-12h a day on the test server for a high attack bow only to snap it immediately on the upgrade...

If you do even a rough comparison to this server, its clear that nobody is going to get the +3 speed upgraded intense/legendary Pamoth/30 skill weps that people say are needed for melee to come into it's own. If they do it will take >10 months (in my estimation).


And all of this is in comparison to 1-2 months of fairly relaxed INT leveling and then a decent staff + hero....

Effective damage output with weapons is the issue, There are many causes (armour values / tag system etc etc). But I'm fairly sure that if anything is to be changed it would be in a way that doesn't undermine the leveling process as a whole.

Exact same thing happened in esoma though with consti and basil at the start. They got monster int by comparison to others and int seemed OP. Later ingame the balance came.
I don't really understand why people who have played soma in the past don't get it. ;o
